Hi everyone

I'm sorry if this question have been asked many times- can I travel internationally and re-enter the US before my physical green card being delivered to our US address?

I understand there's an "i 551 stamp" thing, but does every new immigrant get the stamp at POE?!

Many thanks

Yes, CBP stamps your passport, the stamp is for use while you wait for your greencard.

No need to wait. Stamped busavis the official document valid for 12 months from POE. It is intended to be used for this and other GC purposes. I travelled internationally with no reentry issues using this method

Thanks so much! What is the stamp like? When I google, I found one regular stamp, just like the tourist visa, but instead "B1/B2" it shows "CR1"; and another type of stamp states " upon endorsement....".

Which type would I get when I enter using the immigrate visa for the first time? Many thanks!

I would recommend you wait for the green card to leave the country.

Why? The endorsement clearly states it’s evidence of a temporary I551. It’s every bit as good as a plastic green card for anything you need a green card for officially in the US. I traveled with mine no problems.

The bottom of the immigrant visa actually has the “upon endorsement...” part printed on it. The CBP stamp that you get on entry is the “endorsement” that turns the visa into a temporary green card for one year from that date.
