They found a rabid racoon not far from our neighbourhood this week... I know I don't really have to worry about it - the girls have had their annual rabies shot and I'd never skimp on something like that... but they don't have rabies in Australia and it's something that scares me silly!

What about you? Have you had your rabies shots too? I'd be worried stiff too if I heard of a rabid racoon running around in our neighborhood.

In Tucson all skunks are suspects of having rabies... we have even had skunks jumping out and biting hikers on the trail..

A couple of weeks ago we had a skunk in the trash can by our classroom, the fire company came , put a lid on the trash can and removed the entire can down into the wash, it sprayed in the trash can, we were pretty sure it had rabies because of the way it acted...

7-3-06 GREEN CARD ARRIVES IN MAIL!!!! Done for two years!!!!!!

I am here to help, even if it's just to offer my shoulder to cry or vent on... We are all in this together.!

wow, I thought rabies was everywhere. I know they have a big problem with it in the Philippines.

You can sprinkle bleach in your trash can to keep them away along with a lid. I thought most skunks, racoons and foxes had rabies. Not a big problem in alaska at least not yet. In connecticut very bad.

wow, I thought rabies was everywhere. I know they have a big problem with it in the Philippines.

No rabies in the UK - one of the benefits of being an island.

I dont really stress about it being all over the US cos you're not a risk as long as you keep away from animals that act weirdly (that includes people if you're in the backwoods of Alabamma ;) )

Read on the Jacksonville TV news that a rabid cat had been found in the area of Craig Airport, which is only about 4 miles from where my daughter is, someone whacked it on the head with a spade :whistle:
