I was looking through the affidavit of support guidelines, now I understand that we need a transcript or photo copy of my husbands federal income tax records, and proof that he is working, like a letter from his work place. We also have his new contract and salary on it. Is that all we need? Is there anything I'm missing?

I believe it must be from a bank officer stating the balance in the account, how much has been deposited over the last 12 months, and the date the account was opened. Have both your chequing and savings accounts listed.

For the I-864, it does not have to be notarized.

I mistakenly answered for the I-134. I didn't notice this was in the AOS forum. We didn't prepare another bank letter for the AOS. The only thing that was asked for at AOS was a new empoyer letter and current tax transcript.

we also added a couple months of pay stubs too, but not necessary if you don't want to.

I sent in the tax transcripts (free from IRS) for 2004 & 2005. For 2006 I sent a copy of the tax form and w-2s. (thought it might be too early from filing to get the tax transcript) as well as a letter from my employer stating all the necessary info. I am using income and not claiming any other assets so I didn't include bank letter ectSo far so good- no RFEs

2006 tax return + all supporting documents

Letter from employer

6 months of paystubs

Letter from the bank

So if you get the transcripts of the tax returns from the IRS, you do not have to include the W2s and any 1099s - is that correct?

That's been my one question as I start researching the AOS process.

I submitted W2 and 1099R with the transcript. I don't know if it was required. I had them so it wasn't a big deal to make copies. You are supposed to keep those records for 3 years.

Ok so two different posts, two different answers!

I guess I'll err on the side of caution and send it all (regardless of getting the actual transcripts). I have my W2s but I'll be buggered if I can now find last year's 1099. Grrrr.

We submitted copies of tax returns for 2004, 2005 and 2006 along with the corresponding W2s as well as an employer letter (stating start date, title/position and annual salary) and copies of the last 6 months of paystubs.
