Hi All

I am very worried on my Green Card and hence decided to get some advice here on Visa Journey.

I entered the country using a K1 visa and got married to a US citizen and after that applied for my EAD, Advance Parole and Adjustment of Status.

Receipt Date - Mar 6 2017

Field Office processing the application - Chicago

Bio-metrics - 14 Apr 2017

EAD & Advance Parole - June 2017 (combo card)

Till here all went as per schedule and we didn't face any issues. Now, its been over 13 months and we haven't heard back. By January of this year we started to get nervous. I called USCIS and placed a service request around Jan 16 2018.  They told us we should hear back from them in next 2 weeks since their normal processing time is 8 months. I call after 2 weeks, they said, the maximum time for response on a service request is 30 days. However, our case is not outside of the processing time as they are currently processing for Feb 3rd week of 2017 (Feb 21 2017 was mentioned on the website). So, we decided to call once the date on the website changed. When they were processing for March 1st week (March 15th the dates changed on website) and we called them, they said our case is with an officer and we should hear back in a week. Its been 3 weeks and we haven't heard back. Today we check online. They have changed the way they give out statuses. They no longer give dates and only a processing time of 11 months to 29.5 months. When I asked them about all my previous correspondence, they said they only have this information that the processing time is now 11 months yo 29.5 months and refuse to comment on anything else. The level 2 agents also say the same thing.

We haven't received any request for evidence or any other correspondence from them. Please advise on what we can do. We are very worried and no one us giving us any information. Has anyone else faced this? Does anyone know what is happening? Any information on this will be of great help.

We were late February AOS filers; but seems as it is about 12-14 months right now typically for process for the I-485. We were very fortunate in sense of time it took and not even having to deal with an interview. Literally one day the gren card showed up in the mail and we were both quite surprised. The fact you haven't heard anything can be seen as good or bad. Good because no RFE's apparently, wouldn't think this late in the stage that would be a concern. But bad like as in how long it's taking and no one answering questions.... myself I can only say relax, and be as patient as possible. Try calling back in a week and asking again. You never know, tomorrow you could see ""Card issued" online and it could be in the mail.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

02/03/2017 - Married

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

I live in Chicago. It just the way things are being communicated to us that we are worried. If there is something missing, tell us. If its delayed due to work load, tell us. But every call I make they are just going back on what they said previously.

Are you in Chicago aswell?

If so...  did your care tracker update to "read for interview" in your aos ? Along time prior to receiving your card by any chance?

I have had no status update at all. It doesnt show online and I get a validation error. So, I call them and they say its pending.

What's your timeline for AOS? Are you facing similar issues?

I applied in December 13, 2017.

I literally received my ead notification today which is almost 4 months.

Things are just taking a very very long time in chicago.

I know other states are insanely fast like green card at 4 months. And we are unfortunately the slow state probably because we get a lot more cases !

But I think the processing times saying 11.5 to 32 months is pretty accurate and it makes me cringe for sure.

I wouldnt worry about the green card you'll just stress yourself out. You should be able to work now with ead and travel with AP if you applied ..

A ton of people are getting that validation error I think the system is wonky sometimes. And many people get their green cards without interviews when their status hasn't updated on the tracker so it's not something to be too concerned about ..but ya I hear you it sucks waiting and being in the unkown.

Congratulations! Wish we get it soon as well. Yes, we have been calling regularly. Good and bad will depend on if the case officer has seen our case. Last we were told its with the officer and today we are being told they are still processing for 2016 cases. So, I really have no idea whats happening because they havent been consistent with their communication at all.

You'll get your interview or Greencard very soon! Before the website changed they were working on cases with dates close to yours. Just because the website changed the way it displays the processing times (which I honestly think they just did so they don't have people constantly calling saying "hey the site shows you are already processing cases from date XY, my date was two weeks before that, how is that possible? blabla") doesn't mean that magically 1000 other cases appeared before yours with a similar receive date and all of a sudden have to be processed before yours. They are very close to working on your case. Don't worry about it the way they are displaying the new processing times. They were close to processing your dates and they are STILL close to your date then.
