Tax cuts didn't even apply this year so why are we talking about them?

Tax cuts are in place for this year, but not for the current filing due this month.

Oh did Hillary say that?

We are talking about something Trump actually said, not what we think he did or did not do.

He actually said he didn't do something, "other than" what he did. Other than literally means except. So he said he didn't do it, except he did.

Regardless of what Hillary did or did not do, I doubt she was ever dumb enough to admit it. Trump doesn't even understand the English language.

Trump said "I didn't murder anyone...other than the one guy that I murdered...”?  I must have missed that one.

Ya sorry I was talking about filing taxes right now. I don't pay much attention to any of this because i let my accountant do it all.

It was pretty clear from my post that was a separate example. It is already stated here what he said.

He said he didn't obstruct or collude, "other than" when he "fought back". When you say "other than" you are saying "except when I did". If it's not an exception to your first statement, it doesn't apply. "Fighting back" can be obstruction of justice, and it seems like at least subconsciously Trump realizes that which he why he said "other than" fighting back. Except you can't just exclude some types of obstruction because you feel like it.

So he essentially admitted to obstruction, likely without realizing it. Though I'm sure he does a lot of embarrassing things without realizing it.

That seems a tad... reckless.  Ever why would you trust someone to lie to the IRS for you, knowing full well if they screw up, YOU pay the price, not them?

Trusting a CPA with your taxes seems about as smart as trusting Stormy Daniels with pillow talk...

...I don't lie to the IRS though? Everything my accountant reports I have the paperwork to back it up. I use them just to save myself time.

If I were audited I would have no issues. I stand by everything he reports.

So why not save yourself $500 and use TurboTax (or other software)?

I have a good relationship with my accountant. I don't pay that.

I'd rather work with a real person, at the end of the day.

To each their own, I guess.  I trust me with my money, not someone who makes mistakes constantly with other peoples’ money.  Not knowcking your CPA, perhaps you have a good one.  But I have MANY acquaintances and friends who get steered wrong every year on taxes.

Not always and not always in the long run will you come out ahead.

We don't want to have a debate about bloated defense spending so the Three Trillion Ryan "gift" to our grandkids will be a permanent legacy of the Trump era.

My husband wanted to try and file taxes on his own, but since taxes don't work the same way here as they are in the UK, he quickly got overwhelmed. We used our CPA.. a man that has known me since I was a little girl. He doesn't charge my dad, and his charge to use was minimal. What CPA would charge so much money for simple taxes? My knowledge of accounting is small, but from what I reviewed everything looked exactly correct. We had two huge refunds and owed on another. He explained everything in detail and was thorough.

Cutting taxes does not cause revenue to go up, especially if A) you're in the hole already B) you continue to spend like crazy
