ABC: Comey compares Trump to mob boss

A source present at the taping says James Comey's interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, airing Sunday at 10 p.m. as a "20/20" special, is "going to shock the president and his team."

The source said Comey's comments, in his first interview since being fired by President Trump last May, will generate headlines and "certainly add more meat to the charges swirling around Trump."

According to the source:

  • The Comey interview left people in the room stunned — he told George things that he’s never said before.
  • Some described the experience as surreal. The question will be how to fit it all into a one-hour show.
  • Comey answered every question.
  • If anyone wonders if Comey will go there, he goes there.

What's next: Comey's book, "A Higher Loyalty," is out next Tuesday. He taped the interview Monday at his Washington-area home.

It makes a good story. Too bad Comey is a known liar and nothing he says should be taken seriously.

Trump is a known lier, and you don't seem to have a problem with that. Why the double standard?

Is it a double standard?  If so, couldn’t the same question be asked of you?

So Comey is playing both sides of the fence?  Seems to be a very ego driven person.

Who do you trust more Comey or Trump to tell the truth? It's a no brainer, the Fat Orange Nixon's reputation is in tatters, lies all the time and the guy has about as much integrity as a mob boss.

So Comey is more trustworthy?  You do know he is selling a book for self-serving purposes right?  Additionally, it seems that Comey's reputation is in tatters from all sides.  That being said, believing anyone from the federal government is tenuous at best.

Obviously he is self-serving in this situation with the book...but then again he did recently lose his job. I can't blame him for looking for a new source of income ;)

For me it comes down to a quick "sniff test". I'll never actually buy/read the book myself, but when I read the information/content in the book I ask myself "does that seem realistic for Trump?"

So far everything has passed the test. I haven't seen any content from the book that doesn't naturally seem plausible. Though even if it's all true, nothing from this book (or that last book with "insider knowledge") is going to change anything. It's just good entertainment.

A point which makes him even a little more suspect from a trustworthy standpoint.

I do find it interesting that Comey came up with enough material from a month or so under Trump to fill an entire book?  Oh, that's right, he excoriates Lynch as well.  I still wonder what he was thinking with all his tactics during the Clinton investigation, where was Sally Yates in all of this when he came out and made his judge and jury proclamations?

Personally, I will not be putting any money into Comey's pocket, he doesn't deserve it.

I mean it makes the twitter posts Trump are flinging equally suspect. Of course Trump is going to deny it all. Just like he denied many of the things Comey said under oath. But then again, Comey did say them under oath while Trump has only tweeted them. Unfortunately with private conversations between two people there actually can be two "Truths" to what was intended. Even if you write down notes immediately afterwards, your memory is still going to be shaped but what you "heard". Just like the person who you were speaking to is going to be shaped by what they "intended". So Trump and Comey may very well both be right about their conversations though again, only one has actually discussed it under oath. I'd take that statement before a statement on twitter.

I've read (again I won't actually buy the book) that it actually isn't an entire book about Trump. People are just focusing on that part. I thought I read it talks about time during the Obama administration and even further back. Something about featuring 3 Presidents, where Trump acts as a "counterpoint" to the other two.

Kellyanne Conway was trending on twitter this morning. Apparently due to this interview. Does she really believe Trump couldn't have won if it wasn't for Comey?

I think all the Trump talk by Comey is simply to try and sell the book to those on the MDL as I agree, not a lot of information there yet from the Trump administration when Comey was fired.  As to Trump's twitter stuff, my thoughts are well known on that topic, but it is nice to see a Republican politician actually fighting back instead of just meekly letting the biased media, or other enemies get away with the attacks.
