Your parents can enter from any port.

Correct

As per my understanding you don't have to pay any fee for the physical green card if that's what you are talking about.

Incorrect; green card fee payment info is given out following approval at the interview.

Also, if your parents are over the age of 65, make sure you have a Quote for their medical insurance ready before the interview. The office may ask them to present that.

Important. Mumbai COs could ask to show plans for medical coverage for elderly immigrants as US medical not cheap.

Hi, Congrats on your family's journey! I have a question, how long does it take for your father's case to be approved? and Did you apply from Dallas office?

Thank you. I think it took about 5-6 months to be approved for the I-130. It took about 4-5 months at the NVC to go from processing to interview scheduled at the local embassy. I can't remember which office we filed to.

Hi there.

Still waiting for an interview date in Montreal.  Case approved March 9th, but no word yet on when I can go.

Patiently waiting!

RB

Interview date scheduled for May 14th in Montreal.  Exactly 4 weeks of notice.  We did the medical today in Toronto, smooth as silk.

All paperwork ready to go, AirBnB booked, passport courier booked,  can't wait!

Should we be successful, does anybody know the average turn around time for the passport and documents to be returned to us for travel?

Thank you,

Hi,

Im(naturalized last year) planning to apply the GC for my mom(my father deceased). I have a couple of questions.

1) my mom is a housewife and unemployed. Does it make any negative impact since consuler officers may think she’ll apply for unemployment benefits once becoming a permanent resident ?

2) my mom doesn’t have considerable money in her bank account(I as the son is the 100% sponser). Will it make any negative impact?

3) When i go through ir5 trackers and immigration forums, i can see that time takes for processing ir5 is roughly 11-14 months. Is it correct and does it depend on the country of residence of my mom ?

4) Online I saw multiple document checklists. For instance according to the uscis website only the i130, naturalisation certificate and petitioner’s birth certificate needs to be submitted while some friends in visajoirney had posted that they submitted copies of mom’s passport, mom’s birth certificate, marriage certificate of my mom and dad in addition to i130, pettitioner’s birth certificate and naturalization certicate. What is the document checklist that needs to be submitted along with i130 as of now?

Thank you in advance friends. Wish you all the best.

I have a question and maybe someone can help here.

The NVC has sent us the appointment date for May 16th and when we went to register the address for the return of the documents that was in the instructions, it said the date is May 21st. I am not sure now which date is correct. Has anyone experienced something similar to this?

Hi All,

I have to pay the Immigrant Visa for my Mother's petition. She got Visa on April 26,2019 but when I go on USCIS immigration Visa page on the website, it shows following error message everytime " We couldn't find the A-Number ad/or DOS case ID you entered."

The reason is My Mother's Case ID is starting with Alphabets BMB then 12 digits number , but when I entered that on USCIS Immigration Visa page, it allows me to enter only 11 Digits after alphabets BMB. Does some one know the resolution of this issue ?

Update for my parent’s 130, 765, 485 concurrent filing:

Dad: his 130 and 485 are still pending but he got his EAD card (765) yesterday which is very confusing. I thought 130 approval comes in first.

Mom: her 130 is approved and we received rfe for her 485 ( i was sooo nervous about this but apparently the rfe was bec the doctor didn’t sign a page in her medical form - aaarrggh!). We already responded a month ago but her 485 status hasn’t change - still says “we request for additional doc...” I do have the fedex tracking that it was delivered... does it change for you guys when you respond to rfe?

Hi, I am planing to apply for visa for my parents. They are out side of USA. I am U.S. Citizen. I know that I need to apply for I-130. But I read a lot that people apply for some I-485 too.

What is it for? Do I need to apply for I-485 too?

Thank you.

Hi,  i-130 is for you to apply to petition them.. i-485 is their application to change their status to permanent resident.. you can submit your i-130 and their i-485 applications concurrently if they are already in the US and will have no intention of leaving the US while it is in process.

Goodluck on your application!

My parents are not in US and have newer been. So, I don't need to file I-485, just I-130.
