I-134 – Does Future Employment Suffice?

Hi,

I'm filling out the required I-134 – I'm currently an MBA student, which means I don't have an income at the moment. I did earn a comfortable salary before I began the programme in the fall (which was noted in my original petition / K-1 application), and I will be earning again this summer during my internship (the summer salary takes me above the poverty line / minimum salary).

Given I've already signed this contract and have even been given my start date, can I put this future employment (due to begin in June) in the I-134? Or will this still not suffice given it states current employment?

Thanks all, this forum has been a godsend throughout this entire process

When will your fiance interview? After June? If so you have nothing to worry about.  Fill out the forms right before the interview. If its before June there could be an issue.

The interview is in London correct? They are known to be more on the lenient side. Technically its "current income". Which means income you are earning currently. A future job doesnt count. So you can be denied because of that. But because you said "earning again" Im assuming youve previously held the same job (?) You could argue you are in a loophole and the employment is seasonal. A seasonal employee is not considered to be unemployed out of season. It may be a stretch but if you dont have the assets or a co-sponsor it may be your only hope. Or you could postpone the interview until after your job starts/

I concur with the others - a promise of future employment will not suffice, but the timing may work out.

London is also quite lenient here, and the beneficiary can self-sponsor (no I-134 needed) if they have sufficient assets available.
