"Allowed" in the workplace - yes. But I think that employees should understand when it is and is not appropriate to cuss, and be sensitive and mindful of the views of the other people in their environment.

It really matters what your environment is. Teachers shouldn't go around cursing at school. I worked at a school, then I also had worked at a Chrysler dealership around the foulest mouths, but it didn't rub off on me. I just thought they sounded dumb. They respected that I didn't curse and tried to do it less around me even though I didn't ask them too. It's their issue if they want to curse constantly, not mine. But it would be very inappropriate if they did it in front of a customer in my opinion. They usually would watch their mouths when customers were around.

I myself don't swear ever. So I think swearing all the time sounds really dumb, like people who add something in every other word..come on. Is life so miserable to add the F word to every single sentence? I used to love a song that went "I won't kiss no potty mouth!". People can still explain things without having to curse. I mean I understand if someone curses when they are mad(though I don't do that either), but I hate when people constantly curse.
