Good day! Im posting this for my friend. He is a NATURALIZED AMERICAN CITIZEN (Filipino by birth) and is planning to proposed to his fiancee. He would just like to know if they planned to have the wedding in the Philippines, will the papers he is required to submit to LCR to apply for marriage license the same with those AMERICAN CITIZENS? For American citizens, they are needed to have some sort of paper requirement to be accomplished at the US Embassy. Thank you and God bless!!

That is sort of a depends.  Some cities do not accept the Legal Capacity to Marry Affidavit from the embassy but instead want a CENOMAR from PSA for the USC.

For the Affidavit from the embassy you need to make an appt.     https://ph.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/getting-married/

It may be just a simple for your friend to request a CENOMAR.

Is your friend a dual citizen?

Nope. He is not a dual citizen...

He could be required then to have a CENOMAR in lieu of Legal Capacity to Marry Affidavit in addition with a photocopy oh his US Passport to apply for marriage license?

Quezon City and a few others will not accept the affidavit from the embassy, the want the CENOMAR.   In your friends case, being a former Filipino citizen it may still be easier to acquire the CENOMAR from PSA.

Need to check with the city where he is getting married to review their requirements.
