I797 receipt number explained.

So i read online the numbers mean something. So for example src is from Texas service centre and the next 2 digits 17 for example is the fiscal year and the next 3 digits 012 is the computer day so 012 is the 12th day so mine is 901 is that actual 901 days for the when they work on it? I am now stressing about this. I am a December filer and we are in April now and I still get an error message when I put in my receipt number. And I'm out of the Texas centre.

My receipt number was invalid for the entire 7 months that my case was at Texas. The day my case was approved was the first time it worked. Just hang in there & follow the monthly threads on here to get an idea as to what dates they are working on.

4-24-17 I-130 sent to Chicago Lock Box

4-25-17 NOA 1 & sent to TSC

11-15-17 NOA 2

12-26-17 Case sent to Dept. of State

1-08-18 NVC Received case

3-12-18 Case Number Assigned / AOS & IV Fees Paid

3-14-18 DS-260 Completed

3-16-18 Uploaded Civil Documents

3-21-18 Uploaded AOS Documents 

3-26-18 Checklist to reupload docs

3-29-18 Finished uploading docs

4-4-18 Case Complete

4-13-18 Received interview email

5-18-18 Interview date 

5-24-18 Visa Issued

Modern receipt numbers don't follow that same format. They are just 3 letters of service center -> fiscal year -> some sort of prefix -> sequential number.

 

The receipt number definitely has absolutely no ability to predict when they will actually work on your case.

Oh i hope so, thank you for your advice. I am useless at following forums! How do I look for which months are Being approved? I check the uscis and it goes up daily to 4th July now. And I am not sure if that's the day they are working on or the day you Inquire? It wouldnt make sense if it was the inquire day as it goes up daily!

If ytou call USCIS will that same receipt work? I mean, will the agent recognize your number and able to provide an status? If so, dont bother about website, it never worked for myself and I made it through the journey just fine. Like I said, I would make sure it is a valid number and they can provide you updates often on.

8/21/17  --- Received email & text notification 

8/23/17  --- Received hard copy of NOA  

9/01/17  --- Biometrics letter notice for I-485 & I-765 & I-131  

9/11/17  --- Biometrics Appointment Done

10/17/17 - Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview

11/30/2017 - EAD/AP Approved
12/01/2017 - Card in Production
12/05/2017 - Received Approval Notice in the Mail
12/06//2017 - Card Mailed (Priority Mail) to Me
12/07/2017 - Card Received 

1/19/18  --- Interview Date 2/21

2/21/18  ---  Approved on the Spot

  • 1 hour after the interview received uscis mobile app alert
  • Status changed from "Interview is scheduled" to "New Card Is Being Produced

2/26/18  --- Received hard copy of NOA for the Green Card

2/26/18  --- USCIS Mobile Status changed to "Card was mailed to me"

2/28/18 --- Permanent Resident/Green Card received :jest:
