Just got off the phone with the USCIS, inquiring about my I-130.

The young lady told me the wait is from 9 and half months to 12 months now.

How true is this information? Thanks

While possibly a worst case scenario, yep. It's pretty accurate.

At least for the K1 visa process, it's taken that long for some people to even have their applications reviewed and approved to move them onto the next step. A lot of people are scheduling their interviews a year after initially applying.

That being said - it can certainly take much less time than that, but most people haven't had that experience.

Håll ut, y'all.

I am beginning to believe it s Lottery and luck here. I have seen people approved in 2 months while others in 9 months for no certain reason.

Sure Luck, at least for the NOA2.

Barring an expedite, getting approved in 2 months is crazy lucky....it's certainly not the norm. The vast majority of cases fall within a "normal" processing timeline. Too long, but consistently too long. Some cases will obviously be adjudicated sooner or later than the average, sometimes considerably so.

2 months is pretty uncommon... that's definitely luck. The best case scenario, on average, is around 5 to 6 months. For our K1 process, it took from June 5 all the way to December 1 just for an NOA2, and we're considered lucky among many other applicants, lol

There's no rhyme or reason to it, unfortunately.

OMG at this pace it will take my wife almost 2 years. October 23 2017 POTOMAC

I feel the same way. But, thank god to the members in this group; They have calmed me and hopefully you too down.

Apparently, the USCIS gives those answers to lessen the number of phone calls and requests. At least, that s what I hope.

I pray and hope we hear something soon.

There may be reasons that others wait 9 months - you just don't know what those reasons are.

All cases are different and I'm sure if people have complicated cases or lengthy background checks they may not wish to divulge such information here.

It may just be that each adjudicator is handed a stack of xxx amount of cases and some work quicker than others. Some may have vacations or be ill or who knows - a random one may slip to the top of the pile inadvertently and get approved faster.

I'm at Potomac too and just as eager to get my spouse here - but we can't even begin to understand what goes on at the processing centers.

I'm an I-130 filer with Potomac with an NOA1 of August 25. My case (a very straightforward one in my estimation [although who knows what they think]) is still without a decision. At the same time, I see lots of September filers (even late September) receiving their NOA2 from Potomac. So there is definitely not a consistency in place as far as "first-in, first-out". If you call USCIS you just get the usual "wait" speech.

While the wait is frustrating, I certainly cannot complain, I'm blessed to be able to stay with my wife in her country while we wait for all of this to finish. A lot of folks don't have that luxury.

Yes that is correct, I applied for my I-130 through my immigration consultants, Royal Migration www.royalmigration.com just about a month ago and they said i have to wait for about a year or less. So I guess it will come between 9 to 12 months depending on how busy the USCIS is in the area you applied at.

I’ve been waiting 232 days now. Pd August 23 NSC and still nothing yet.

I appreciate your positive outlook; I, too, will be with my wife for two months this summer, and we do not have children. There are couples with infants and babies in this e=wait game. What have the USCIS tell you when you called?
