I don't agree that everyone is put under AP, at least in our experience, 5 minutes after our interview, we checked our status and it was already updated to issued. So at least in our case we never encountered AP.

You applied for an immigrant visa. This is for a K-1. A requirement of the K-1 visa alone involves handing off the process from the IV unit to the NIV unit. That is part of AP.

Ohh ok, i tought it was an IV.

K-1 is handled by the IV unit at the embassy, but is technically NIV still. So it has to go through a handoff. Most K-1 recipients, if they very closely watch their CEAC status, will see it switch from IV to NIV before being issued.

Edit: And yeah, it's kinda weird...other NIVs are not like this.

Hi guys, I feel really bummed out. My fiance and I went to the interview 3/26 and we got our visa approved. Two weeks of waiting and now our case has been put under Administrative Processing. No proof or paperwork was asked from us they just put us there. I mean this whole process has been smooth except for the wait time and now more waiting. I already had a set date for wedding and I purchased his ticket. Now we are given 60 days maybe? Any suggestions on what I can do?

60 days will be golden. Trust me, count your blessings if or when you get something by then.

A day or two after the interview, our K1 visa changed from IV to NIV on the CEAC site.  One weird thing is that ours says "Application Received" instead of AP, but I assume it is the same thing.  More waiting!?!?!

This is normal and happens before the visa is 'Issued'.  You're nearly there.

Everyone who applies for the K1 Visa experiences AP after the successful final interview in the Beneficiary's country?

Am I understanding this correctly?

Because as far as I know, my Fiancee passed her interview the morning of 3/12 and was immediately given everything she needed to enter the U.S. on a one-way ticket, except her passport, which she got back in the mail from the Tokyo Embassy in less than a week.

As far as wedding plans, I spaced everything out and planned to be married a year from the day I proposed. I still agree with everyone who says DON'T do this, but I was able to make it work. She even decided to wait two weeks until 4/2 to enter the U.S. We kept all reservations and appointments made for the wedding / reception 5/26.

Lol I've been part of Visajourney for 7 years and I went through the k1 and following processes and I just found out that the k1 applicants get on AP after an approved interview.

Maybe it changed?

back then you just got approved and got your passport and visa within the same week or the following one...(in my case I got my passport with visa 10 days later because the embassy closed right after my interview...In venezuela Holly week and Easter are non working holidays and the embassy closed for almost a week. I think I would have gotten my passport within the same week)  and it looks like it was a standard for many embassies. And AP cases, got a written notification that they were actually under AP.

Maybe things have change since 2012

My friend who brought her fiancee in 2016 the whole process was 3 months and he was here, fast foward to now we 9 months later we are now in AP. Things have changed a lot. It's really frustrating because if they were going to put us in AP why say you are approved. I think things were easier before this president. I'm just really confused and bummed.

I see, I still stick around because after 7 years is really hard not come by and check was going on. But I'm already a citizen so honestly there is not reason for me to come here anymore but I love this community.

but yes! definitely things have change...2011-mid 2012 was very fast! I got my noa 2 within 3.5 months and my entire process was 6.5 months from the day I applied to the day I moved with my husband. I filed in sept 2011, got my noa 2 in early jan, got my interview scheduled in february march and move in april. So it was super quick.

And as I mentioned, people got their passport and visa within the same week or the following one and the people who were put under AP were notify during the interview and they got a notification. They didn't get a formal approval or denial either. Some people would take 1-2 months at the most under ap.

I got my passport 10 days after my interview even though the embassy closed for almost a week, so they processed my visa in 3 days probably.
