RFE Deadline clarification

Hi Guys,

I have a question regarding the RFE deadline. I received a RFE notice with the deadline being March 17th, 2018. I sent my documents on Feb 27th priority mail overnight with delivery confirmation. I have the receipt from the USPS stating that USCIS received the package on Feb 28th. I went to check my case status online on March 27th and it had said that the my case was received at the local office on March 19th (not sure exactly what it said). But today, when i went to check the status online, it states that, "On April 9, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number xxxx, at your local office. " There is no history of the previous case update and I'm freaking out because I have no proof of the previous update(didn't take a screenshot) and Apr 9th is way past my deadline. So my question is, does the deadline mean when the USCIS received the package from the USPS or when the appropriate division receives the package from whoever got the package from the post office.

Thanks!!

Online updates are not always done  for every step. You sent the RFE response by the due date and to the address indicated. You have delivery proof. It’s ok

Pheww....Thanks, Dee. You've calmed my heart and brain. :)

I bet the first update you talk about that you didn't screenshot said "RFE response received" or something like that, and now this new update only indicates that once they received your RFE respons they sent your application to your local field office for an interview.

Hi Scandi,

That sounds about right! I had a gnawing feeling that I would be called for an interview as I didn't have solid evidence. Well, as long as I made the deadline.. I will sleep well tonight.  Thanks! :)

Oh wow! Mine has definitely been more than 17 days..like Scandi said, I probably be called for an interview. :(

Depends on what you had to sent them for the RFE and if they are satisfied with it. For us t hey wanted to see more in detail about mortgages and utility bills, things we don't have.

Mine was a lot. I didn't send much when I filed to remove the conditions as we didn't have a lot back then and also because I wasn't knowledgable on what was required (silly me)! So I sent them a hefty lot this time but mainly only a year worth of evidence. Prior to that, we weren't really in a situation to have a joint everything.

Sounds about the same for us haha this is what we did.

We sent in for proof of marriage:

1 month jointly bank account statement

Photos of trips going to Nascar race and football game over the years we got married, and family trip to Florida & Christmas dinners.

Cards/mail addressed to us with both our names on it.

Health insurance

RFE, They wanted to see more in detail about mortgages and utility bills:

4 Family affidavits explaining why we don't have any of that.

A letter we both signed what we included and explaining why we don't have any of what they are asking for

Tax returns from when we got married until now (Yeah for some reason we forgot this...lol)

Car insurance

Copy of driver licenses with same address.

Another bank statement

Did you notarize those affidavits? I had sent 2 before the RFE but they still requested it and they wanted it to include specific things like how my friends knew about our relationship and how I knew about their's in detail (which i found weird) and like other things. So I ended up not sending any since it was considered supplementary evidence and also i didn't feel like bothering my friends to write a cumbersome letter explaining all sorts of things.

I think they will probably call us for an interview to ask why we don't have all the 'basic' things. Sigh...should have maybe made them write an affidavit.

Yes they notarized it. Ah well even if they call you for an interview,  you have nothing to worry about ^_^ as long as your relationship is real.

Yeah, i figured. Not super worried about it, just annoyed coz it will take a longer time now. My husband and I joke about how we should invite the officers into our apt for a few days to show them how 'real' our relationship is instead of having to send all these documents over. :D
