Way to pull up an old video(lets be clear, it's not from the recent events but has surfaced in recent days) where you can clearly hear them waiting to shoot when one spots a child(funny that that isn't mentioned in the article, only the barbed wire is).

A statement from the army said the incident took place on Dec. 22, 2017, and depicts “a short part of the response to a violent riot.” It said the man who was shot was suspected of organizing the incident and that he was injured, not killed. The soldier who recorded the short video, the army statement said, was not part of the unit that fired on the protesters and is now being investigated for “unauthorized filming of an operational event and distribution of the filmed material.”

Just to be clear - no one is allowed to be right on the border. The fact that people, armed or unarmed, rarely get shot for getting closer than allowed, does not guarantee no one ever will. We also don't get to see what they may have been engaged in prior to this being shot but many times they plant bombs or use it to spy or collect intelligence, or as the statement said conduct violent riots - that's why they are not supposed to be that close to the fence. Follow the rules if you don't want to get shot - it's that simple.

Yawn.

And this is exactly why you don't allow people by the fence, as innocent as they may seem watching a 2 minute edited video:

There are rules; follow them and you'll be just fine. This guy was warned many times and then shot in the leg.

And no, there are many Israelis who don't speak fluent english, most know the basics, some are more fluent than others.

Buffoon alert:

If you congratulated an Israeli woman on finally earning the right to drive, she'd look at you with eyes that could kill and tell you to stop with the chutzpah.

If you told her that she couldn't sign a contract, or get married, or leave the country without first obtaining permission from a male guardian, she'd laugh and ask if you knew where you were.

If you told her she had to drape her body in a billowing black sack every time she went outside, or that her right to vote was only a right as of a few years ago, she'd tell you you'd lost your mind.

That's because in Israel, unlike in so many other parts of the Middle East, women have long had equal rights. In fact, their equality is enshrined in law.

So it's disheartening that the student body at Barnard, a women's college that is part of Columbia University, voted Wednesday to encourage the administration to divest from companies that do business with Israel.

The divestment campaign is being led by a group that cleverly calls itself Apartheid Divest, giving those unfamiliar with or uneducated about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict the mistaken impression that Israel is an apartheid state.

This effort at Barnard fits into the larger Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign, which has, for over a decade, sought to smear, isolate, and delegitimize the state of Israel. The international campaign — along with the spinoff at Barnard — is predicated on a simple but noxious falsehood: that Israel is a fundamentally racist state that is committing grave human rights abuses merely by existing.

The conflict is complicated, and there is no doubt that in its 70-year history, both sides have made unfortunate decisions. But the idea that Israel is an apartheid state is one that is wholly without merit.

Much in the same way the women's rights are enshrined in law in Israel, minority rights are likewise guaranteed. The 1948 declaration which established the modern state of Israel pledges that the country will "ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex," and that it "it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education, and culture."

Though there have been some hiccups, Israel has lived up to those promises. This week, as it celebrates the 70th anniversary of its establishment, the women of Barnard have ignored the challenges it has faced, the threats to its existence that it has overcome, and most importantly, the legacy of equality and justice that it has bequeathed to the modern Middle East.

Barnard is my alma mater, and I know this decision to be one that is directly in conflict with the values of tolerance, dialogue, and intellectual honesty which the institution instills in its charges.

Israel doesn't quite know what to do with peaceful protesters, and its actions so far, haven't exactly helped it sell the narrative that Israel is the victim.

Palestinian teen dies after being shot by Israeli troops on border

Residents have been staging protests since March seeking right of return for refugees

A 15-year-old Palestinian boy died on Saturday after being wounded by Israeli troops during protests along the Gaza border, the Palestinian health ministry said. Israeli forces have killed 42 Palestinians since Gaza residents began staging protests along the border fence on March 30th. The demonstrators are pressing for a right of return for refugees and their descendants to what is now Israel. The teenager killed was identified as Azzam Aweida. Hundreds of people gathered at his home in the southern town of Khan Younis to attend the funeral. Mourners carried his body, wrapped in a Palestinian flag, to a nearby mosque for prayers before burial. “My son is a martyr and I am very proud of him,” said his father, Helal Aweida.

What's your point? Age? Actions matter more than age. There is nothing peaceful about these "protests".

Again, kudos to the soldiers for doing a better job than I can see any other military doing at keeping casualties minimal while fending off dozens of attacks. Hats off

Looks like good ole pallywood is back.

Oh and #endtheblockade

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit published a video Saturday evening showing Hamas faking injuries and using women and children to mask its terror activities during the weekly border protests, intentionally making it harder for the IDF to retaliate while "creating a false pretense and misleading international public opinion."

The spokesperson's unit also once again accused Hamas of using mass protests on the Gaza Strip's border as cover for throwing explosive charges and grenades and attempting to infiltrate Israel.

During the violent riots that once again plagued the strip Friday, the army said a Palestinian mob set fire to gas and fuel pipelines and damaged fences and gates on the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The property damaged was intended to serve the people of Gaza, the army noted, and was placed there by Israel as well as other countries.

"This violence, which directly impacts the welfare of the people of Gaza," an IDF statement said, "is being led by the Hamas terror group, which tries to create a false pretense to which it drags and endangers its own civilians."

"Hundreds of trucks bearing equipment and goods have gone through the Kerem Shalom crossing every week for years, while gas and fuel were funneled into the strip for the use of its citizenry. By (harming them), Hamas is working against the interests of Gazans and deteriorates their situation for its own ends," the statement concluded.
