Filing Taxes - I'm at a bit of a loss (Help Needed)

Hey guys, thank you in advance for your help. I can usually figure this stuff out myself, but I could really use the assistance right now.

 

My wife (originally in USA on an F-1 Student Visa) and I married October of last year. It's been a crazy year and though I usually file taxes ASAP, this got held behind until now. 

 

I am planning on filing jointly and including the W7 form so my wife can get an ITIN number since she does not currently have an SS#. She does not have insurance, though, and did not all of last year either. She is not employed nor was she all of last year. We lived together for the entire year+, as well.

 

Are we screwed on this or is there a possible exemption for avoid and health insurance penalties? What other forms do we need to send in other than the 1040EZ and W7?

Hi Jeremy, not sure on the specifics regarding the F-1 Student Visa but it does sound like there could be an exemption from the healthcare coverage penalty. You'll want to look up the penalty exemptions and see if any of those apply to your wife's situation. Depending on that will depend if you need to include other forms, schedules or attachments to your 1040 series form.
