25 to life seems a bit harsh, even for adults. Perhaps this is why so many Americans reoffend?

Or he took into account that maybe the children didn't actually mean to kill anyone? There also could be a lot of extenuating circumstances, that we don't know about.

  I think the ages played a difference. The teens in that case were 16-17, IIRC.

 

  I agree though, sentences in this case seem very light. I don't know that jail time was really an option, but they needed more than they got. No one was held accountable here, no message sent, and no justice for Mr Byrd. Sad all around.

You are correct except for one 15 year old, and so far that case has not concluded to my knowledge.
