How is that hogwash? if your GC expires you have a status of PR regardless as long as you don't leave the states as I already mentioned. You don't NEED an expired GC in order to file, you can file either way.

So what was your confusion?

Because it is hogwash and I am not going to go on trying to educate someone who is misinformed so have a good day.

You're by far the most ignorant person on here. I'd rather trust the words of a lawyer AND employers at my FO over someone who spewing incorrect information and backpedaling with no backup.

At first, you said "you need a current GC in order to file" then later state " You need to have an EXPIRED GC in order to file for Naturalization".

if you think someone is misinformed, educate them that's what this forum is for but by the looks of it, you're clearly incapable of doing so and untrustworthy.

Don't even bother, good day

Ok I went back and read what I posted and I apologize for writing that because it is wrong. The first part of my two sentence comment I was being sarcastic to you but the last part is my fault,  I blame a night of no sleep due to the baby on that one. But I do apologize for the mix up and crossed wires.

In order to file for Naturalization you need to have current valid status such as having filing for ROC and having the 1 year extension letter, or after having completed ROC then wanting to file for Naturalization. It is actually very common to for people while in the process of having filed for ROC months later wanting to file for Naturalization also. This happens all the time on here and it is ok to do this.

Again I apologize for my mistake and sending that out with little to no sleep yesterday. I make it a pain for myself to put out the best possible information for people on this site in order to help people like I was helped previously. If I don't know anything then I will not comment on it at all and just keep my mouth shut until I am more knowledgeable about that particular subject.

Hi everyone!!

I want to apply for a citizenship but I have an expired Green Card. I know the requirements and I also don't have criminal records.

I have been a Permanent Resident for over 10 years now. I grew up here and I consider it my home. I really want to become a US citizen.

Please help thank you, guys!!

My brother filed 3 months after his GC expired because he wasn't paying attention. He was approved within 3 months at my FO. I on the other hand am filing 6 months prior. 10 year GC holder

Congratulations on the baby, I recently became an aunt to a baby who allows no sleep in the house so I try my best to help out. Now that you mention sarcasm it makes more sense, I just didn't register that so it really confused me. I do accept the apology and I apologize for the harsh language I used towards you.  Thanks for the clarification. Best of luck with the baby!

Well this is my 4th child but my wife's 2nd one(blended family), my youngest daughter is 15 months old now. But we are all sick now due to the changing weather and of course the baby takes it the hardest to not being able to breath right while sleeping at night. So needless to say it was a long night Sunday night for us and not to mention we had a Consular Outreach to go to yesterday that took WAY longer than it should have. So our nerves were frazzled by the end of the day. Luckily last night was a little better for us both.

BTW I was the first to rep you.

Cheers.
