Urgent!! Dad had MAJOR DISABLING STROKE right before Citizenship interview!

Hi all, I am really hoping to get practical insight from you ASAP.

My father (67 y/o) has been a permanent resident since 2008. He finally decided to apply for his citizenship last year and was supposed to have his interview last august 2017 when he had a major stroke in July last year.  He was in the hospital for 7 months. Just got discharged home last month.

He used to live in Atlanta, Ga but now he will live with me, in Philadelphia, PA.

His lawyers told me they did not let the application lapsed. So that's good. Now, I am going to take it from there to be able to get him his citizenship. He cant talk, can't really sign any paper, but he is conscious and understand what is going on around him. I can wheelchair him to the interview if necessary. He just can't take the test.

Please what do you think I should do to get a new interview date for him in Philadelphia?

And what do you think I should do to "prolong his green card"? It expires on June 26th 2018.

Please let me know If you have any small idea of where I begin with that process, since I don't have much time, and he requires 24 hr care from us. I have applied for myself, my husband, and my mil. So I am familiar with the application process.

Thank you so much !

His Green Card is just evidence of his status, his status is not dependent on the GC, he can just renew it to get a new card.

Ok, great. How do I go about continuing the citizenship application? So that he can have an interview in Philadelphia?

Presumably his lawyers would have informed USCIS about what happened and why he could not attend his original interview date, thus receiving correspondence from them regarding same?

His lawyers would be best to advise you on how to move forward depending on how the lawyers were able to not let the application lapse since August 2017, as you said.

In special cases, USCIS is able to make accommodations for those unable to take the civics test once provided evidence with the application.
