NVC case# = Embassy Case #??

Hey fellow waiting friends,

as the title says, I was wondering if the NVC provided case number is the same as the case number I will get from the us embassy?

The lady at the doctor's office said I will have to bring the case number that I will get from the embassy but all I can find is about the NVC case#.

Just wondering if I can go and do my medical before I heard from the embassy with just my NVC case number to be absolutely prepared.

Thank to all for being such a fantastic community and supporting each other!

Wow, thanks for the fast reply.

That is good to know!

But if I got that right, the doctor will send it to the embassy. What if my medical stuff gets there before my case arrived from the NVC?

That's not likely to happen.  Unlike the rest of the process, once the case number has been assigned at NVC, the documentation gets shipped to the embassy quickly.  If I remember correctly, it was less than a week between the time my husband's case number was assigned and his case was received in Rio de Janeiro.

I imagine if you tried to book your medical today the next available appointment wouldn't be until several weeks out.  Are you sure your medical will be sent directly to the embassy/consulate where your interview will be?  My husband was given a sealed envelope with his results and told to bring it to his interview.  Every embassy operates differently.

Good luck!!

Thanks.

Yes I already made some random appointments for the next weeks. (Lucky for me that the ladies at the doctor's office are super friendly)

They just said that I should cancel the appointments that I don't need when ever I know.

Oh and yes, they do give me a copy of the medical report but they send all the originals directly to the embassy they told me.

I don't think you get a copy of the contents of the medical packet.  What you will most likely get is a copy of DS-3025, Vaccination Document Worksheet, which will come in handy when you AOS.  Any  vaccinations listed on the worksheet will not be required again in the U.S.

Not intended as a criticism, but I would ask you to consider...

Many of us have already been separated from our loved one for many months as we wind our way through this process.  If you  have taken medical slots that will not be used, that means a delay for others who will have to wait longer to get an appointment of their own unless you release the appointments you don't need.

You are 100% right! I only scheduled 2 appointments. I haven't thought of what you said before though and i will call them right away on monday to open up one spot for someone else!

I really hope no one will be offended by that. I admit i made a mistake here

Each embassy does the medical differently. In London they will only courier the medical report to the embassy. It's not possible to hand-carry it yourself (which would be a lot easier, especially as London is getting slower and slower in getting the medical results to the embassy and many people have their visa approvals pending while they wait for the medical to arrive at the embassy).

You may or may not get a summary sheet to keep from the medical. You do in London.

The NVC sends the cases to the embassy by DHL and it only takes a few days. I know you can track the DHL shipment for spouse visa cases, not sure about K-1s. It's pretty much impossible for the medical to arrive first unless there is a major problem with DHL (plane crash?).

It's maybe not wise to block up medical slots although in Germany it's less of a problem with demand. In London I could choose an appointment the same week that I called. It's more a problem in countries with higher numbers wanting to immigrate.

It's an innocent mistake most of us here can sympathize with.  Thank you for being such a gentleman about it.

If your medical info arrive before your petition not to worry, they will know about you.  Your file number is sent electronically to the Embassy in advance of the physical file.

YMMV

I went to the medical in Frankfurt the morning after I got my NVC number, hehe. I wanted it done (hypochondriac), so I got my number on the phone at 6pm and arrived in FFM at 7:30am for Walk In, hehehe. German cases are electronic, so the embassy receives them very fast. No problem with doing the medical early. The receptionist told me it will take about 3 days for the documents to arrive at the embassy. For Munich it takes about a week I heard.

All you get is your DVD with the chest xray and a copy of the DS-3025 Vaccination sheet. Keep that good, you will need to include it in the paperwork for AOS.
