getting letter from our Attorney to guarantee on our return to have interview in UAE for K1/K2 visa

How can an attorney (or anyone) guarantee your return back?

Posted

We have applied for our K1 visa and hired an Attorney to make sure all process to go smooth. Hence we asked same Attorney to issue a letter. I read someone's comments on VJ, she was recommending to get Attorney to issue a letter to explain our current status of process and how much assure that I will not be overstaying and come back home country to complete the K1 visa process. But some people said it is all depends on immigration offer and I found comment, she was not even ask for anything to show and letter was wasted. But my question given earlier to the other response is, if any one got denied to enter.. My departure is actually 8th May, I will try anyway since i booked my ticket now.

No one can predict what will happen at immigration once you arrive in the US. Having an attorney write letter is not guarantee BUT if you think it will help then go right ahead and have one prepared. We have seen some denied and turned around and sent back and we have seen some who entered without much fanfare. You can do a search here on VJ for cases for and against entry while processing a K-1 visa. Good luck.

Question about DS160:
I submitted already my DS160 and scheduled my interview. But when I reviewed my DS160 last night, there are information that I need to edit. So i filled out a new DS160 and I submitted it again. I have the new DS160 number now. How can I change the DS160 Number on my interview appointment? The only option I can see that is possible is to cancel the interview appointment and then schedule again a new interview appointment date.

The DS160 field on the appointment page is blocked, i cannot change the number of the DS160.

Any advice? Thank you! :)

What was the info that you needed to edit?  If it was previous school and employment and the beneficiary is female, it's not necessary.  When we were filling out the DS-160 it kept alternating between showing that info as being needed and not even there at all.  Their system seems to get confused because they have it set to not be required for females from certain countries.

We ended up not bothering with that info (my wife was the beneficiary) and everything went fine.

I am worried because it is kind of a major detail. I had a police case before due to bounced cheque but I already got the clearance from the police station. Instead of Al Qusais Police Station, I wrote down Muraqqabat Police Station on the explanation part, an honest mistake really. All the while I thought it is Muraqabat that is why I wrote down Muraqabat instead of Al Qusais. I have all the police clearance documentation ready from Al Qusais Police Station. This is why it worries me. 1 detail that I need to correct. I have my new DS160 confirmation number and page now. But I don't know how to update my interview appointment details of my ds160 number.

Just take the new DS-160 confirmation with you to the interview along with the old one.

This one point I am not understanding. If I did my K1 medical exam in Dubai, how long is it valid for? I came across this today. Can someone clarify?

I was under the impression the medical exam report was valid for one (1) year.

@Strontium Please just bare with me I'm not getting this 100% I still keep reading in other place on VJ that the medical expires in 6 months. For POE purposes is it 6 months, but for AOS purposes is it 1 year?

Thanks for the help.

That's correct :)

Hello Everyone

with the grace of God almighty we got our NOVA2 approved on September 5 2019 :)  Now waiting for NVC case Number . My question is regarding police clearness certificate. i am originally from Pakistan now from last three years working in Dubai UAE, so should i need to get police clearance certificates from both countries or only from UAE ?
