Incorrect resident since date

In my first service request for the typographical error, I wrote something like "my resident since date and expiry dates are both incorrect. The resident since date says 3/15/18 and the expiry says 3/29/28". Then in the corrections textbox I put something like "the resident since date needs to be corrected to 11/24/14 and the expiry date to 3/15/28". I figure that just putting the dates in by themselves must have confused them when you sent yours in since there was no context to them?

Yeah, I was trying to be simple, but too much I guess.  I can re-submit on Sunday.  I thought I'd do my explaining in my letter once it got taken on by a caseworker. Thanks for that.  I'll keep you posted.  I filed N-400 and it will take a year, so have time,.

On May 14, 2018, USCIS will begin recalling approximately 8,543 Permanent Resident Cards (also known as Green Cards) due to a production error. The Green Cards were for approved Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions of Residence for spouses of U.S. citizens. The cards were printed with an incorrect “Resident Since” date and mailed between February and April 2018.   USCIS will send notices to individuals who received the incorrect Green Cards and to their attorneys of record, if they have one. The affected individuals should return their incorrect Green Card to USCIS in the provided pre-paid envelope within 20 days of receiving the notice. They may also return their cards to USCIS field offices. USCIS will send replacement Green Cards within 15 days of receiving the incorrect card.   The recall does not affect these Green Card holders’ status as lawful permanent residents. If affected individuals need to travel internationally or prove their lawful permanent residence while they wait for a replacement card, they may contact the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 to determine if they need additional proof.   Spouses of U.S. citizens may apply for naturalization after three years of permanent residency and must meet other requirements. The incorrect date on these cards could lead applicants to wait longer than necessary to apply to become U.S. citizens.   For more information, visit our website.

Saw that! I also got an interesting... "receipt notice" of sorts? To recall, I sent a service request because my card arrived at CSC on 4/26 and I'd heard nothing. They sent me a letter from the director stating I can call the customer service number or track my case online. Behind it, they stapled the original copy of the letter I printed to them, then behind that they stapled the front of the envelope I sent the card in. I guess it was their way of saying "we have it!"?

I've just realized the date on the boilerplate letter is dated the day before I sent in the service request asking for a receipt notice. I wonder why they couldn't just email me or write a letter saying "we have your card and will print a new one". I think if I'd gone about this the wrong way then they would have returned the dud card too, but that wasn't inside their giant envelope that they sent this all back in.

 

Edit: They highlighted my expedite request in yellow and also wrote in the ID number of the office at the top right of my letter. The same ID number at the bottom of their letter. I blacked those numbers out because I don't know how personally identifying it could be.

Just so you all know - I traveled abroad and entered the States with wrong resident since date card without any problems!

This is very interesting.. Becuase they haven't returned your GC, I believe this is their way to say "OK, we will produce a new card", but they don't have an official letter explaining that so they send the default official letter accepting the service inquiry. Also, the letter says "Thank you for your recent inquiry to CSC", if there was something wrong, I would imagine they have says something like "inquiry completed" or something like that. 

Have you check your online USCIS account?

 

I haven't received an e-mail or letter yet... Also.. how this recall will impact us (the ones who received instructions to send it back to CSC)

My accounts online haven't changed. I'm really not sure what to make of it! I brought it into work and my coworkers were just as stumped. Guess I'll wait a bit longer. Sucks everyone else gets a 15 day turnaround, yet we tried nipping it in the bud and have been waiting longer lol.

Amazing.  I've been sitting on my PRC and had filed for my N-400, so this is great news and what I had hoped for all along.  A recall. Good looking out, if anyone gets a letter from this recall let us know.

I woke up to a confusing USCIS e-mail at 4am CST. This is the same e-mail I received when getting the first (wrong) GC: "On April 6, 2018, the Post Office delivered your new card for Receipt Number WACxxxxxxxxx, to the address that you gave us" 
I'm not sure if this was a glitch of the system (becuase it was at 4am CST)... or a way for USCIS to tell me they have my GC and working on my inquiry case. 

Why we are all getting completely different updates??

I got the same notice at about the same time. Guess they're updating their systems or something. 

 

I have something coming from the "Eastern Forms Center" in Vermont in the mail today. I'm not sure if it's the prepaid envelope (no good now!) or if it's an RFE from Potomac for the green card currently sitting at CSC not doing much.
