I just received an email from them, and asked me to do the same thing: Mail the incorrect GC and then request to expedite. Are you simply just going to write a letter, or do you know if there is a form to expedite?

Thanks!

Literally just wrote a letter pointing out the mistake and what the dates should actually say, put up the top in red bold writing "Requesting expedite due to USCIS error" and also requested the expedite again in the body of the letter. I don't think too much thought needs to go into it. Sounds like it's going to a specific officer who will sort things out.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

I'm not sure how to proceed - just strange to get a totally different answer. I wonder if it has to do with the service center (I'm Vermont, looks like you guys are CSC). I'll give them a call, but I feel like I already know what they're going to say (file an I-90). I could also just try and submit the request again in the hopes of getting a different officer to respond? There's no way to respond to the email unfortunately.

That's most definitely the difference. The person we're sending it back to is located in CSC, not VSC. I don't see what you have to lose by submitting another request, but I feel that you could get similar results by submitting an I-90 (paper, not online) and at the top of your form in big letters write "REQUESTING EXPEDITE DUE TO USCIS ERROR". The director at VSC will then use their discretion as to whether you will be expedited.

Good morning everyone,

I just want to share my case..

I submitted my service request on April 13th and finally got an answer today (April 26th):

"If you believe that the error was due to our administrative mistake, you may request the processing of the correction to be "Expedited." All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are granted at the discretion of the Director.
* Attach a short note identifying the discrepancy and requesting "Expedited Processing Due to USCIS Error." Also indicate the incorrect information;

* Return the PRC with the incorrect information
."

They are telling me to send it directly to the CSC and the e-mail specify to write as "ATTN: Admin Error-  - TO BE OPENED BY ADDRESSEE ONLY - DO NOT OPEN IN MAIL ROOM". It seems that would move the package directly to the  person that checks USCIS Errors.

I scheduled an infopass 2 weeks ago for next Monday while I was waiting for a response. Hopefully I can get a stamp on my passport before I send the GC to the CSC. (my previous stamp is in my expired passport and it was for pending I751, now I'm approved) I'm traveling at the end of June and I'm scared of not having something physical as the GC by then.

Does anyone know if the CSC send you a letter (NOA) when they received the card?

They just send an email confirming they have the card. I don't think you can use it to extend your expired one further so I would definitely get the stamp.

Hi

All,

Would it be okay to file N400 on the basis of new green card with incorrect issue date ?

I am planning to file paper based N400 and in that i will attach both new green card with approval notice and the old green card.

Need suggestions.

If you have your visa with entry stamp or still have your old 2 year Green Card then you shouldn't have any problems. Sometimes the officers at the N400 interview take the 10 year card at face value, so it's good to have proof if they can't be bothered to look up your case.

Hi, will my online SR for typographic error get seen to after today's notice? Just keep waiting for that email you are all getting? Or does this mean it would get through?

THIS: "On April 13, 2018, your request to correct an error on your document or notice, referral number SR--------------, was assigned to an officer for response."

THEN THIS: "As of April 26, 2018, your request to correct an error on your document or notice, referral number SR-----------------, is currently not assigned for processing."

Hi Everyone,

I just came back from my Infopass appointment and wanted to share you my experience and information I got from the agent.

First, I have to say that I think I'm very lucky to have the agent that helped me. She was very nice when I asked for a Stamp when the NOA was expiring (December 2017) and Today too (she had my case studied when I arrived Today).

After apologizing for the error and understanding with the frustration of the situation, she gave me a I-511 stamp valid for 1 year, and cancel my old stamp. The old stamp was on my old passport and it said "I-751 Pending" (valid until Nov. 2018),  which she mentioned that it isn't recommended to travel with a "pending" stamp when your case has been approved. My new stamp says "I-751 Approved, PRC pending due to USCIS error".

She told me that it could take 2 months to get my corrected card back, and that is because it was a USCIS error and for being expedited. Just in case, my stamp is valid for 1 year. Once I receive the new correct card, I should go back to get the stamp cancelled to avoid future issues when traveling. She also recommend me to make a copy of the PRC with the wrong date (front and back) to keep it for my records, which I already did.

I asked if "i'm the unlucky person, or if there are more cases", she said that it isn't rare but neither super common. They have seen around 2 cases (a USCIS error on a GC) per month.

After a picture and taking my finger prints, I was done. This agent makes the infopass process painless. If anyone goes to the Milwaukee USCIS office, they told me that they are doubling turns to have more appointment per day.

I feel so much relief having this new stamp. Now, I have everything ready to send it thru FedEx to the CSC and start the waiting period (again..).

Have a great day!

  • 2 weeks later...

So it's been almost two weeks since they received my card at CSC and I haven't heard a thing from them. Another user here got a confirmation email two days after receipt and then another when their old card was destroyed, so I sent a service request today asking them to send me a receipt notice. If I don't get the expedite then I'll need to get another stamp in October so I can renew my license.

CSC received my card last Wednesday (May 2nd). It is only being 1 week, but I haven't heard anything either (no e-mails, nor updates in my USCIS user account). I know they received my card because of FedEx's proof-of-delivery.

It would be nice from them to let us know that they have received our cards...

I'm thankful it's not just me! Googling this situation doesn't reap many results at all so I'm not sure what to make of it. I sent a service request for not receiving a notice and explained the situation, but I'm expecting a generic boilerplate result from that. I sent mine via UPS and have delivery confirmation too. Says it was received by someone called Moya, is that the same for you?

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

I will do! I post in this thread and in September 2016. The other poster who got an email update, BFP XX is also in Sept 2016 so keep an eye out there in case they update.

What did you write in your service request?  I sent a typographical error submission online but put the Incorrect Resident Since date and the correct one in the field below on the online form to be as simple as possible with no explanation.  It's been bounced and not assigned to a caseworker.  Can re-submit after a month which is this weekend.  I thought I was being clear and succinct, but guess I needed an explanation of the error.  Any tips to get this through?
