Anyone have any quotes or memos from Obama stating that he wanted the CIA to intentionally target civilian lives with drone strikes?

 

There is a difference between trying to minimize civilian casualties, yet still having them, and actively asking to target civilians.

 

I'm not saying I agree with Drone strikes but I don't recall Obama ever WANTING to target civilians with them. It may have still happened, but if it did that was despite attempts to avoid it. Trump here is literally asking for it.

and my answer to that is - so what?

there are boatloads of attorneys to ensure that military actions do not violate international law, the laws of armed conflict, geneva/hague conventions, etc.

it is quite unlikely that ANY president would be well versed in any of those subjects, hence the need for those attorneys.

Ignoring the "duh" as there is nothing obvious in this topic

The subject of this thread is Trump statements that we should target the families of terrorists intentionally.

 

Intent is the operative word. Nothing has been presented here that speaks to Obama's intent or explains what Trump really means.

I would not say apparently, actually. He actually stated that several times on the campaign trail. He does not understand the moral implications of these statements.

Trump is asking for it. He's the president so sadly it's only a matter of time.

 

I'm still waiting for any source discussing Obama wanting to target civilians or asking for them to be targetted, or ordering them to be targetted. As you say - let's look at what people do.
