I have just booked my k1 interview πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Β

I noticed when this was all done it says to bring previous passports to the interview. I do not have these. It refers to in particular ones containing old US visas. I had a j1 visa in my previous passport that I do not still have. What can I do? Anyone had this problem?Β

Nothing. You explain why you don't have it. You can't pull it out of the thin air if you already destroyed it or lost it.

If you have the DS-2019 from your program sponsor, that will show whether you were subject to the two-year return residency requirement as a result of participating in that J-1 program.

I had multiple visas in different passports and I don't think they ever looked at them at my K1 interview. I was told at an infopass appointment at my local USCIS office when I was in the U.S. that I should bring my past passports to the AOS interview though. Luckily I took my three past passports with me from Germany so I was able to show them at my Greencard interview. The IO at my AOS interview took them when she did copies of other documents so I am guessing she took copies of my past passports or visas that were in there.Β

Just for the future, do not have them destroyed and keep them at a safe place. You'll never know when immigration wants to see them. I would keep them in general even if you hadn't planned to immigrate somewhere. Just for the records.Β
