Russia told Britain at the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that "you're playing with fire and you'll be sorry" over its accusations that Moscow was to blame for poisoning a former Russian spy and his daughter.

It was the second showdown between Russia and Britain at the world body since the March 4 nerve agent attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in an English town. Russia, which requested Thursday's council meeting, denies any involvement.

The attack has had major diplomatic ramifications, with mass expulsions of Russian and Western diplomats. The 15-member Security Council first met over the issue on March 14 at Britain's request.

"We believe that the UK's actions stand up to any scrutiny," British U.N. Ambassador Karen Pierce told the Security Council. "We have nothing to hide ... but I do fear that Russia might have something to fear."

Last week, Jean-Yves Le Drian also made a number of statements on the so-called Skripal case. His statements contained nothing new. Please forgive me, but claims that only Russians can manufacture the “Novichok” toxic agent and that there is therefore no other plausible explanation, remind one of Lewis Carroll. This does not sound serious for the Minister of Foreign Affairs from a serious state.

We expect the French side to stop hurling groundless accusations and to respond constructively and down to the point to our ten questions on the “Skripal case” that have also been addressed to Paris.

I don’t know whether this author is popular in France, but the people of Russia love him, and this book is wildly popular with every child here.

Everyone unanimously agreed that the colonial policy doomed native tribes to extinction and to exile from places where their ancestors once lived. This deleterious British policy affected all of their colonies, especially Australia. During initial colonisation, exiles and colonists themselves viewed natives as wild animals. They hunted them with rifles, killed them and ravaged their villages, citing influential lawyers who claimed that Australians were outlaws and that the murder of these outcasts was therefore not a crime. Newspapers in Sydney even suggested mass poisonings as a radical method for getting rid of the native population, especially near Lake Gunter.”  

Incidentally, our citizens are sending us many allusions to works of fiction or documentaries.

At the moment, there is no definitive proof that Russia was behind the attack, so perhaps it would be wise for what ever investigation is concluded before rushing to punish Russia.

Re Mueller :We really should not even started looking for definitive proof of Russian interference because we did not have definitive proof before we started looking for it, therefore...o gawd I just burst a vessel.

It is perfectly relevant since the snippet you post opinined that Russia is the only party with the means, the motive to stage an attack with a nerve agent.  This is not true.   If you don’t want a refutation of what is posted, then be more careful.
