LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEE GRITS!!! it is a quick meal... and will warm me up in the winter time!!! also... ya gotta have lots of butter with them... hehe

someone asked my mom what her favorite dessert was one time... she said... anything with butter!!! haha

God, I miss her! she was a hoot!

OMG - your mom sounds like me! I often choose my food based on its compatibility with butter.

And last but certainly not least, for those that are NOT born Southern, but have lived here for a long, long time, all y'all need a sign to hang on your front porch that reads "I'm not originally from the South, but I got here as soon as I could!"

Have not lived in the south for a real long long time but I love the people and most of the food (sorry, still can't get used to the grits but hubby loves them even though he grew up in Nebraska). I think I'll get sign and hang it on our front porch!!

pedroh... honey you are a TRANSPLANTED southerner... hehe... you KNOW what it is to be southern! :)

besides its redneckness and intolerance (which actually I haven't seen a lot).. I love the southern style.. people are very nice, and, since my adventure to the midwest (Missou), I dunno, I kinda felt the midwestern people not as friendly as the good ol' boys here in the south.. besides, personally, the food is great, and I has surprised me all the different people that live here, lotta hispanics (lots of good mexican restaurants!), and some other nationalities, I know this manager from dennys, hes from India, and for me or others he's not the 'indian manager guy'.. he's just Sandeep the manager, I kinda like that race/nationality fading..

and yes, I declare myself a southerner! Viva el Sur!

Have you tried corn muffins anytime? They're a sweeter, "brekkie-only" version of cornbread.

I dont like Grits, never tried bisquits and gravy yet.

Have you tried biscuits with butter only, honey or preserves?
