Hi everyone,

My husband enrolled in school back last fall while his conditional green card was still active. We had no problem getting financial aid and a student loan at that time. Now he is entering his next year and his green card has expired (back in November) but we filed for the conditions to be removed and received our I-751 (back in January). He was able to get financial aid because his residency is not expired. The problem is now when he goes to upload his "proof of residency" all he has is the expired green card and the I-751. Has anyone had an experience with this in the past? My worry is that it will take over a year to process and we'll be stuck paying out of pocket.  My plan is to call the loan company Monday morning. Just wanted to see if any one had an experience with this.

Thanks!!

Hi there, I am also a student and my school never asked me to verify my residency again since I submitted my GC in the back end of 2016 for enrollment. I filed for I-751 last year in March. Having said that for my health insurance I did attach my expired GC and extension letter a month ago without any issue. I don't think so your husband will face any problem by submitting expired GC and the extension letter. In fact, he is a permanent resident with a pending ROC.
