I'm a temporary resident here in Canada on work permit visa, met my USC husband, got married and do the petition. Now , I have my immigrant visa since January 2018 and planning to enter the US next week. But lets face it, I live in Alberta, Canada where I'm earning 3 folds of what the minimum wage earner earning in Montana. I still have my work here and a 3 year old car that I have arrears on it and wanting to import once fully paid. We still have to do some house renovations in the US. Do you think I will have problem on the US border? Can I tell them that it would be easy to pay off my car loan and help my husband with house renovations expenses if I will stay here for a year or two. I can go back and forth in The US, like maybe every other month, staying 3-7 days. With the 8.3 USD minimum rate in MOntana ( and i already knew that I will end up working on that wage level because Im not a US professional) against my 25 cad/hour rate here in Canada , I think it will be best for me to stay a little bit here in Canada.

I'm also getting my teenage daughter on June and same thing she will enter as an immigrant.  I'm thinking that , it will be best for her to stay back in the Philippines for a year. is this possible too? I'm kind of scared about the mass shooting of kids that is happening right now in the US and she still wants to finish her high school in the Philippines.Maybe a year of adjustment to her. Coming on sem break and December before settling in.

I have my round trip ticket on hand (they already cancelled my B1/B2 visa), But I have been in and out of the US as a tourist.  Now, I will be staying for 3 days in the US because of my work here in Canada.

Can I do the re-entry permit? Is it p0ssible to put this as a reason? Like my daughter finishing  her high school, car loan , house reno, cant easily leave my job?  Any hindsight will be most appreciated. Thank you.

Well, I'd be careful with your plan. If you weren't 100% sure you want to move to the US, should have waited.  Green card is not a tourist visa and you can easily lose it if you use it as one.

I agree with @Roel You filed a CR1 to LIVE in the US - not to stay for 3-7 days every other month. If you had no intention of living here within the timeframe, I'm not sure why you applied for the immigrant visa instead of keeping your B1/B2 as it was. If you stay out of the US for a long time you will lose the green card and then will have to start over again.

I get what you are saying about the difference in wages, but presumably you and your spouse decided to do this at least a year ago - what was the discussion about it at that time?

Were dating for 2 years and got  married for 2 years now and we encountered financial trouble. I do intent to live and stay ofcourse in the US.  I know that we rushed on this decision to think that we can make it (pay off car loan and house reno)  I have a vehicle that I don't want to leave because its way expensive to get another one and sold this for a cheaper price here.  I know with what I'm earning here,  I can easily pay it off in a year. If I stay in a year, we don't need to take a loan that it will be hard for us to pay with mine and my husband salary, noting that we still have house mortgage.  I was like thinking of getting advantage of what I have now and move in a year. Were we don't really have difficulty in paying off debts. I'm tired of debts..Lol. Anyway,  most of my income will be pouring in your country. I don't know if how can I convince the Border officer that my intention were legit. sometimes , problems pops in and mostly, its all about money. Everyone of us wants to live comfortably.

If endorsing your US Visa does not void the Terms of your Canadian Temp workers visa then you may be able to do that but only a shorter period.

If you can keep the Canadian Visa you then get your US Visa endorsed. Return to Canada for 6 months to wrap things up and work. I don't know how you're being taxed in Canada resident or non resident since you're a temp worker?

After your visa is endorsed at the boarder you are no longer a Resident of Canada. So taxes must be paid as a non resident from that point on. Well that is if you were taxed as a resident of Canada. Second not sure this applies either but  you can no longer use the Canadian Health Care system. That stops when you enter the US and get your visa endorsed. It does not matter if you continue to work and live there or that you even pay into it. Once you cross the border with that visa you stop being a resident of Canada.

Now if you can stay in the US long enough you can get a reentry permit and that will allow you up to 2 yrs of being out of the US . Just remember all the above applies for this also. You cannot claim or use any benefits that are for Canadian Residents.
