I-130 London. Delay for extra docs

Hello there!!

Back at the end of December I sent my I-130 Petition Papers, and finally got processed through but then received a letter 2 weeks ago requesting further documents, a death certificate and a divorce decree, which I sent last week.

Since it has taken about 2 and a half months for them to process my petition, about which outcome I'm still not sure, I worry that it will again take that long for them to look at it again with the new docs I've sent.

Could someone be so kind to tell me how it works please?

Do my new docs skips the line and go straight to my petition and it goes vavavroom or do I have to join the waiting line again and wait 2 month+ please?

So many thank!

My petition is still pending in London so I have no personal experience with this.... however, from several different forums and timelines I've been reading it seems that when they ask for additional documents, they are immediately reviewed once received (you don't have to go back to the end of the line).

This thread has some really good/detailed timelines: http://britishexpats.com/forum/marriage-based-visas-35/immigrant-visa-dcf-i-130-filed-uk-timeline-only-843594/page29/. Here is an example copied straight from there:

" 16/03/2018: RFE received, asking for affidavit confirming that boxes on I-130 left blank should be not applicable.

18/03/2018: Affidavit returned to London Embassy. Emailed also, but email reply stating that cannot accepted emailed return.

28/03/2018: I-130 approval received in post. "

Thank you so much @HNE!

I hope this is right~

I sent my documents on March 27 and they signed receipt the nect day which was 10 days ago.

I am worried because last time i sent my full i-130 form they emailed to say they got it, but not this time.

I'm waiting anxiously for my NOA of my petition and my case number.

How long do you think I should wait until I call them?

Thank you again so much!!!!

I don't think they'll let you know they have received the extra documents. You could always email them and just ask for confirmation that they received the documents.

As for actual waiting time, I assume it depends on what information that asked for, why they needed it, etc. I'm pretty sure the embassy will have been closed at some point over Easter and perhaps even a few employees will have gone on holiday since it was the long 2 week break for schools so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a little longer due to all that as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you @HNE for the reassurance :)

For the record

I received request for more info

(My US Wife's previous husbands' details (Death cert. & Divorce Decree))

- Dated March 14

I sent the requested docs

ON March 27

USCIS London received and signed post

ON March 28

So it has now been 21 days

DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT?

All this seems long...

Do you think I should just hang on or is there a number |I should call?

MANY THANKS AGAIN HNE!
