Police Report

Good afternoon,

I have a question regarding the police report that might be required by my beneficiary.

My fiance lived in France when he was 19 years old for a year and half. That was over 10 years ago. Does he still need to request a police report even though it was over 10 years ago? I was thinking that it might not be required since it was so long ago.

Yes, he will need one.

I'd get one to be on the safe side. Here's what the Casablanca consulate says about police reports:

 

"Each applicant aged 16 years or over is required to submit a police certificate from the
police authorities of each locality of the country of the applicant's nationality or current residence where the
applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also
required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year. A police certificate must
also be obtained from the police authorities of any place where the applicant has been arrested for any reason,
regardless of the length of residence. Police certificates from certain countries are considered unobtainable. The
consular office will advise you about any particular country".

• Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

Yes. He must also present a Police report from any other country,  where he had lived since 16.

If he were legal in France, there should be no issue receiving one, though I am not sure if that requires his personal presence. Furthermore, he might need it again with microscopic details should he receive a DS 5535, or and if placed on Administrative Precessing. (btw, I am not sure if DS 5535 still exists based on its expiration date in November of last year)
