If you can find a slot to re schedule then sure.

If you mean will they change it for you just because you want to travel soon then no.

Also surely your 'travelling date' is just the date when you would like to travel, ie. nothing has been booked anyway.

My mother is coming for my graduation and the appointment date available is too close to my graduation date can somebody help me push the appointment date forward???thanks so much for your view az2014

Nobody can help you push it forward. You need to keep looking yourself at the available slots if a sooner one comes up.

You can try to contact (email or call) US Embassy at your country. I do that when they reschedule my appointment from 6th to 20th. The worst part because I already bought a ticket to States (18th-shouldnt buy unless you have visa on hand, but we take a risk anyway because we want to fly back together). So, I contacted the embassy at my country, they push the date to 8th. It is not hurt to try.

Indeed, it won’t hurt to try. Some embassies have a fairly light workload and others don’t so this will probably be very embassy dependent.

for others who may be reading looking for information, too late for advice for OP,  something like a graduation you know the date months in advance...  you should always try book a visa appointment for around a month or even more before you plan to travel; that gives you adequate time to get a visa and not have to book a last-minute air ticket or conversely risk losing the ticket price because you can’t get an appointment. I believe (but might stand corrected) that there is also a website that DoS maintains that you can look up how long it takes to get a visa appointment at your closest consulate.

Graduation is not really important in the scheme of things.  My military SIL could not attend his at a military university because he had to be across the country to begin another course. His attendance was not that important so a guest at the event is even less so. Needless to say, neither his wife nor daughter attended as they had to make the move as well.

There are so many more compelling reasons for a person to get special consideration. Please remember these instances when you try to break in line. Please don't waste the consular officers time.

If the intent is to party in celebration, that can occur anytime.
