Visa Interview Scheduled for CDJ, now what?

Good afternoon all,

My husband has received his interview date for CDJ (IR-1 category). It is at the end of May. I know that we need to schedule a medical exam before the actual interview, but unfortunately, I am still a little bit unsure of all of the next steps.

  • I know he will need to have his finger prints taken. Where is that done, how do I schedule that appointment? Any links you can provide or additional information would be much appreciated.

  • I have been informed we need courier services. Do I set that up at this sitehttps://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-mx/iv/information/iv_services after I register his appointment? Also for the courier information, will my husband have to pick up the visa at the DHL location, or some other location? I have seen some reviews where people have picked up the visa at the place where their finger prints were taken. Again, I am not sure about all the next steps.

I would greatly appreciate detailed responses on what we need to do next and how its actually done.

Thank you in advance,

The embassy provides this helpful page for things you need for your interview, https://mx.usembassy.gov/visas/instructions-for-immigrant-visa-applicants/ . I can't answer the biometrics scheduling questions as I did DCF and was able to schedule that myself. Not sure how it works in non DCF cases.

As far as where the biometrics happens, it's at the ASC in Juarez (https://www.google.com/maps/place/ASC+-+Applicant+Service+Center/@31.6895582,-106.4066501,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x86e75c52cce04ae5:0xfce32ffe4c8a4c60!8m2!3d31.6895582!4d-106.4044614), just a few yards from the embassy where the interview will be.

As far as the pickup location, you can select to have it shipped to (almost) anywhere else in Mexico or pick it up in Juarez. If you choose Juarez then your pickup location is the ASC.

Thank you Jorge V.

That clears up my question about where the Visa will be sent.

Where did you indicate whether you wanted to wait for it in Juarez, or have it sent? Is that a website?

It was on that website you posted. However, being a DCF filer I was allowed to everything myself, including scheduling my own interview. It doesn't appear that you're a DCF filer so I'm not sure if my advice applies, though I would assume selecting a delivery location would be the same.

You schedule biometrics on the same link you provided after you register.  You can also pick your shipping method, i picked it up at the same location as the biometrics (CAS) since i live here, but a lot of out of town people wait for it here since it's faster than waiting for it to be shipped by DHL. (Took 2 days from interview to pickup)

This link should help you with the process: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/CDJ_Ciudad-Juarez.pdf

Thank you very much fcl. I did call NVC and asked about it. Thanks to you all for the helpful information. I was able to register my husband's visa appointment and schedule the biometrics, AND, select that location for his visa pickup.

It is a bit confusing because this part is not exactly spelled out within the NVC site. Also, thank you for the link. I have seen that page before, but it actually makes sense now since we are finally at this step.

Thanks again. :D
