Hi everyone, I need some advice and some information, I applied for K-1 fiancée visa back on October 2017,just waiting for my NOA2, my fiancé lives in the Philippines, he did not receive a schedule for interview yet, we're still waiting but my questions are, When do you attend for a CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) seminar? is it after receiving the K-1 visa or before? and where do we register for the seminar? Is there any website we can go and inquire? My fiancé is located in Cebu, Philippines. Thank you for anyone that can help me and can advice me on this.

You can attend the GCP (for fiancees and spouses) anytime. You can't get the sticker until the visa is in your passport, so if you take the course sooner then you have to come back to get the sticker later. This is available by walk-in.

Country-specific thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the Philippines regional subforum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

After your petition is approved and you get your MNL case number you will NOT receive an interview appointment.  You must make your appointment yourself online

YMMV

For the K-1 and IR/CR-1  you can attend the GCP seminar any time, you will be issued a certificate upon completion.  Once you receive the visa in your passport you return to CFO to get the sticker affixed in the passport to exit the Philippines.

For the K-1 visa you will schedule your own interview  once you have you MNL# and have paid the visa fee.

Are you using a VPN or such?

I had a  serious attack some months back so since then I have been blocking VPN when I find them.

If no VPN then I might ask your ip so I can check where I might have been overly zealous  ;)

A word of caution.  Watch your 6 when attending CFO.  They are an organization who has the objective of keeping as many Filipinas in country as possible.  And they even have the underlying objective of breaking up relationships in order to do so.  This is a 'no value added' bureaucracy!  The counselors there are abusing their power and trying to make themselves out to be an important!.

Truly that is not their goal, especially considering how many Filipinas exit the country with visas.

It is true that certain people attract the attention of CFO and for them it can be a  very annoying experience.

That is definitely true in your case but in ours they treated Rose great and even had a few laughs.  She had no issue at all and walked out of the class with her certificate.  She did say that a few people were not being treated as well.  They seemed to target a couple gay or transgendered people there and they did not get their certificates.  They were told to come back after their visas were approved and they would get the sticker if they were still with the same partner.  Apparently, they do have an attitude!  LOL

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

Thank you for sharing this information, but I have a question, if my fiancé going to attend the GCP before he gets his visa, can he be a walk in to get the sticker once he gets his visa at the CFO office? or Does he need to register online again for this PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar)? Thank you again for your help.

No, he can pick up his sticker anytime after the visa is in the passport.  There is even a CFO office at NAIA if you want to take the chance that they are actually there at the desk.  Make sure he keeps the original receipt.

He needs to take the class but he can walk in after completing the class and receiving his visa to receive the CFO stamp.

OK, let me be a little more clear.  He can do his GCP before receiving the visa but he will have to register for an open spot.  Only K-1 fiancee(e)s and IR/CR beneficiaries can do the GCP prior to receiving the visa.

He will have to register for a session and attend the GCP.  Following that seminar he will be issued a certificate of completion.  With that, he can go back to any CFO office to receive the CFO stamp after he receives the visa.

He does need to take the class but he can do that at any time.
