Going to interview

This might just be a Singapore thing, so let me just first say that it could depend on the consulate. In Singapore, noone is allowed to enter the building with the interviewee.

So if my fiancé wanted to support me by physically going to the interview with me, he's needing to spend 30 mins eating outside somewhere, I'm sure.

Thank you.  I forgot to mention it’s in Bangkok.

Thank you for letting us know the country because it really is country specific on wither or not you can go to the interview. @AL-MJD just said Singapore won't let you but I know the Philippines will let you, so I hope someone can come by in this subforum to answer your question in a little bit.

It depends on the embassy - the country, and the building itself. I know some countries/facilities, like the one in the Philippines, do let the USC in. However, others, such as Stockholm (where my fiancé's interview was), do not. There were no waiting area for me and though I was able to stand in line with him outside waiting for them to open, I couldn't go past the security booth and had to take a cab back to our room.

I've also heard of some having lists that you can call ahead and put yourself on, so maybe try that as well. The beneficiary may have to be the one to call and request it/have you put on their "list". Worth a try :)

Håll ut, y'all.

I know I can’t go into the interview with my fiancé at the embassy but do they have a lobby or waiting room where I can wait while she interviews?

You won't even be able to get into the embassy.   You will have to wait outside.  Best thing to do, is find a nearby coffee shop or restaurant and wait.  It won't take long after she is let in.

Just got back from Thailand on the 20th of last month. You will not get into the Visa side of the embassy without an appointment letter. I checked this out pretty thoroughly when I was there because I am currently doing a K1 and my fiancee will have to interview there. I watched the hustle go on outside the embassy for a few hours, and noone got in without a letter. Also last year when we tried for a Tourist visa she was allowed in, and I was not. Now, If your a USC feel free to flash your passport and go inside the other embassy side til your hearts content, but you still have to do the metal detector and 21 questions before they let you in. It really was a letdown, I got all the way in and was expecting something out of the Jason Bourne movie, but it was really a wasted trip. LOL

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Yeah I know what your talking about.  I was there in 2008 when the yellow and red shirts were protesting and had the airport shut down.  We had to go to the embassy then to try to get home.  I remember it being very tight security.  I just didn’t know If they had somewhere to wait on my fiancé during her interview.  I guess not, so I’ll just get hotel nearby and stay there.

There's a lot of places to hang out around there. But you have the right idea, sit in the air conditioning at a close hotel.
