I will make this as concise as possible.  I received my Visa in January 2016 made my first POE in late April that same year and left again in May to return to finalise our move. I have a 10 year expiry on my GC. This year, we made plans to visit again, look for houses and jobs, return, settle our affairs and move for good. I was detained at my POE and forced to pay 500 US dollars due to me being out of the country for too long. So I have a question, that i cannot seem to get a proper answer from DBP. It is still within the 2 year time frame from my last POE out of the US do i need a Re-entry Permit or a Re-entry Visa. One i know can only be applied within the two year timeframe and one also gives us 2 years to make the US our domicile. Both these are expensive but the latter is alot more due medical and interview requirements. Any one dealt with these? eligibility? any info would be helpful. Again they are both different one is a Permit attached to your current visa to stop it from being handed in and the other is a whole other visa that apparently again allows you to retain your GC. I just want to know the difference  etc, success with one or the other, anyone that has been through a similar situation what did you do to fix this.

Thanks
