HERE is a fairly large size interactive flash media file (so more than likely it would never be embedded in a signature) and it is only 43 kb in size .. the two cat pictures in your signature are 76 kb combined ..

i tried this earlier posted link by countryboy...

jeez, thanks for that!!!

yw .. :)

I think I reached a reasonable implementation that gives security and funcationality :). Make sure if you embed the youtube video you just use the "QOqXlbWf9Io" or similar youtube descriptive content. The the BB code box to enter this on the left of the post screen.

Liefde is een bloem zo teer dat hij knakt bij de minste aanraking en zo sterk dat niets zijn groei in de weg staat

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

I dont really agree with embedding media, some ppl may have hardware that if all the media was there would slow them down. the site is working really fast right now, theres no need to slow other ppl down bc they dont have the fast up to date hardware as some.

same with siggies, if theres alot of media on a thread, man it could take forever to open for some ppl

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you.

Keeping in mind the amount of animated gif and other items (pictures, counters, etc.) that are currently included in members signatures; could you please elaborate as to what hardware (or outdated hardware) would cause the members pages to load slower than they do currently by adding embedded flash objects?

If what you say is true and can be substantiated with factual data then that point should definately be included in this thread.

Thanks

CB

Ok, as simple as i can make it then......some ppl may have slow computers (older pc's laptops), and putting embedded objects can slow a person down (or their IE) when opening a page to view it. whether it be flash, jave or a video. even gif's can do it if there are alot. example: someone with a slow old computer (cuz not everyone can afford a brand new dell) opens a thread, and the first 5 posts have big embedded objects in it, the person trying to view the thread may really need to read the info on the thread and cant, or it takes so long to load the person gives up. just example.

I hope that answers your question

"VJ Timelines are only an estimate, they are not actual approval dates! They only reflect VJ members. VJ Timelines do not include the thousands of applicants who do not use VJ"

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE SITE, PLEASE READ THE GUIDES BEFORE ASKING ALOT OF QUESTIONS. THE GUIDES ARE VERY HELPFUL AND WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF TIME!
