My husband had his interview and he was refused because we needed additional sponsor's and proof of marriage. Along with this documentation, he was told to submit his passport at one of the 11 drop-box locations. In our case, it was the office in Ahmadabad. Today he went to go submit all documents to the office, but they did not accept his passport. It clearly said it on the letter and his Consulate Officer that interviewed him told him to do so as well, but they said they can not take it. They said it was a "new rule" and to wait for an email from BOMBAY. I wanted to know if anyone else had this experience before, or similar, and what that means. Also the time frame on when he will receive his visa. I am really nervous as to why they didnt take his passport. Thank you to anyone who can advice.

They are right. According to the rule they can't accept Passport. Have you got any response from them ? I am in the same boat like you .
