And you wonder why it irks me when ppl don't bother to either do a simple Google search or care less to READ FROM start to finish or FOLLOW a thread that is EXTREMELY important to their own process?

Lazy ppl/instant gratification with no effort is a sin.

When ive asked my question i just wanted to hear someones opinion or story.

I read october thread from the beggining till my approval day, then few days more.

Ive read this thread from 1st page till now, its like reading newspaper for me now. Waking ap,see moved 4 pages forward, so going back and reading.

About lazy people, there is some, that doest even wanna open google,agree...

@Naes  @K1visaHopeful I totally agree with  both of you. It's not at all worth taking the risk and I wouldn't take the risk too.

@Naes  Regarding what you said for engagement too - but my fiance proposed to me and we had a engagement party. It was like any normal evening party with friends and family. Would that create a problem as technically how do you become a fiancee if you don't have any engagement ??

Yup the links you sent I read those - one of them was of India and although the ceremony was different but sill I think it would apply. They wee very helpful, thanks :)

In K1 you can't even go to he US get married and come back - right ?

Here is how you handle the interview and the "ceremony" question if asked. First, don't start the conversation. If asked answer honestly that you have talked about dates and what the wedding will look like, but since you do not have approval you haven't done much else which includes no setting a date. Then state that you are aware that you have to get married within the 90 days after you arrive in the States. Don't bring any pictures that show any kind of "party" so that the CO cannot construe that it resembles a wedding of any sort. That's all there is to it. It's not a big deal if you follow these suggestions. I have coached many on this tactic and it works.

Hi @Greenbaum  I was about to tag to this discussion :) .

I read your points  - I can do all the things, but what about social media these days - by chance if anybody posts on Facebook or Instagram and in Indian ceremonies - close to 200 people come.

Plus will it not affect at time of Green card/AOS - or I just show pictures of legal marriage/celebration done in USA ?

Me neither it's too risky.

I'm reading your links you shared and you have me nervous as we sent engagement pictures in with our K1.

They were snapshots taken from when he popped the question when we met up with my "family" for my bday and my bestfriend videotaped it. (Yes they both actually surprised me in their plan). It's obvious on video that it was just him proposing but you never know what could be read into the photos.

Meh, I'm not gonna stress. We were wearing fluorescent yellow raincoats in the middle of a hurricane. I hope that's enough, lol.

Hey! I wouldn't worry about it too much. We also sent pictures of our engagement photo shoot, contracts with different vendors for our would-be wedding in Montreal (which we later postponed as we decided to settle in the US instead of Canada), photos of the engagement ring, me at my bridal/engagement shower thrown by family and friends. I'm not at allllllllll worried about these. I think one bonus of living so close to our friends down south is that we share alot of the same cultural "events" or right of passages. They are so obviously engagement pics, I don't think anyone in North America would mistake them for an actual wedding ☺️ Hope this helps

@Naes Since you only need the WAC # for DS-160. What would you use the NVC # for other than tracking the application? I assume that you don't need the NVC# to schedule the interview either?

That depends to the embassy. Some embassies won’t let you schedule medical without NVC. Some won’t let you schedule interview without medical. I can schedule interview but cannot schedule my medical without NVC number. And can’t have the medical exam without at least the mail from NVC.

You need to know that your case reached embassy if you want to work a little ahead. Or you can just wait for them to send a mail or your embassy to send instructions.

Facebook and Instagram are fine as they don't search there. After your married and doing AOS its fine and a good way to show your marriage took place.
