Most Embassies require that the PC is not any older than 6 months. So it could be Embassy specific. I would recommend that you check either in the India forum or that you call the India Embassy and ask.

Okay , thanks !! I will call up and confirm. Also put this question in Mumbai forum. Thanks !!

Yes, you are absolutely right . That is why I got confused. Thanks !!

Another question: I got my  police certificate from UK in November,2017 and by the time I go for my Interview it will be August - September, 2018. Do I need to get a fresh PCC from UK again or 10 months old one will work ?

I had the exact same question for my own situation . I found this on the official U.S. website. Hope this helps! 😊

Hey,

Thanks - that is really helpful. It clears the air as @Naes  said. But , just to be on the safe side I'll call the consulate and confirm. Don't want to go there and then get into any kind of delays coz of this thing. But, this is really helpful !!.

Can you please share the exact link to this page?

At the very bottom, there are country specific guidelines. I'm glad it helps you!

That's a really good reference for all the additional documents actually (birth, marriage, police, etc)

How do you know if it is electronic or not?

They tell you on when you call, after they receive it from USCIS. if they tell you to call 5 instead of 7. (5: electronic system, 7: old system)

Persusing through the Travel.State.Gov website now that it was mentioned above and I noticed that the beneficiary can provide their own financial support in lieu (?) of the petitioner filing a I134. (I didn't know that)

1) Would I be correct in thinking that it would be preferred to have the petitioner be a financial sponsor to "prove relationship" over the beneficiary supporting themself?

2) How would the beneficiary prove their own financial stability? Do you think a bank statement with a substantial amount of funds would qualify? A savings of more than or equal to the annual income required by the I134...would that suffice?

Reason I'm asking is that the I134 seems like alot of work if the beneficiary has more than adequate funds in the bank....

Thoughts/advice?

Anyone any idea why I would receive this email from USCIS today?!

Nothing has changed when I log into my USCIS account and I have no open inquiries. My case was approved on April 2, arrived as an electronic case at NVC on April 27.

I didn't think USCIS would be contacting me again - thought it would all be in the hands of NVC and my US Embassy from here on in, so I'm confused...

Did your case updated on the new site? What does it say?

new site sends e-mail every two weeks if there is no action... apparently even if it’s approved...

At least 3x of annual income required for k1 and 5x for AOS. However not all embassies let’s self-sponsorship.

There's no update, still just says Approved April 2nd. So strange... I'm guessing its a blip in the system..

Or maybe they're checking in cause they miss me and all my Fiance's calls from back when we were waiting for our approval

Are you going through the Montreal Consulate?

Yes

Me too! We are in the same situation. The Mtl consulate still requires a complete I134 and supporting documents. For us, we had him fill out all the required documents, include tax receipts, etc. We are going to include my bank statements, tax receipts, RRSP info, etc as well . After all, it won't hurt to show there is some sort of financial safety net already in place (sidenote, did you know you can keep your RRSPs in Canada as long as you are a Canadian citizen? My IA told me that) Not bad, eh?
