Some Embassy's refer to P3 as the letter from them outlining what is needed for the interview. P4 is not used that often with the K1 visa but more for CR1 visa. P4 is normally the return of all information that you completed from P3. Again this is all Embassy specific and may not be relavent to you/Embassy.

Hey,

Thanks . So in my case Packet 3 is applicable. Although the US Embassy Mumbai website doesn't mention that word at all. Thank you !!

We just got approved, NOA2 april 27th!

I'm so happy to finally (and just barely) joining this thread!

What seems to be the average time now for them to recieve your case? I've been seeing very different things lately

The packet 3 name is bantered about so much that it has no meaning at this point really. Sometimes referred to as the p 3 sometimes packet 3 sometimes Embassy letter. It can be one of any of those three or a fourth one now starting to be refered to as the check list.

Yes, you are absolutely right . That is why I got confused. Thanks !!

Another question: I got my  police certificate from UK in November,2017 and by the time I go for my Interview it will be August - September, 2018. Do I need to get a fresh PCC from UK again or 10 months old one will work ?

It is usually valid for 12 months. And the validity won’t matter if you don’t go back into that country during this time. :)

Okay , yes I haven't gone back to UK since 2011. I am not sure - I thought I read somewhere the PCC has to be less than 6 months old - but GLAD that it a'int so, thanks again :-)

Most Embassies require that the PC is not any older than 6 months. So it could be Embassy specific. I would recommend that you check either in the India forum or that you call the India Embassy and ask.

Be careful with your answer because it could be specific to an Embassy that the requirement be less than 6 months on the PC. I know in the Philippine Embassy they require that the PC cannot be older than 6 months or they will give you a 221-g otherwise known as a RFE.

Hoping to see some real progress this week! My NOA2 is October 19th- maybe I’m a bit too optimistic to hope I hear something this week but a girl can dream, right ?

I believe it is 6 months (some may say 12 too but I go with 6 cause we actually had this discussion before in June filers)

The reason I go with 6 is, they seem to like the police certification from the country of residence as current as possible.

I have a quick question for you - I tried to email you a couple of days ago but it didn't go through. When should I send down all the docs to my fiance in Colombia. W2's, Tax Transcripts, intent to marry...??? Just wanted to get your advice. Sending back my RFE overnight today...

I would send it when you’re waiting for NVC. It would reach there around the time it reaches embassy, and even if the interview has a big gap in between it would be valid.

thx for telling me by the way, I should clean up my inbox :)
