Wow! Thanks! I'm glad I asked!!

I was under the impression that it may take three months or so until POE. I need to get documents ready from my end asap

Can you please finish your profile as it will tell us what Embassy your processing through and what visa you are chasing.

Go to the top right of this page select your name>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Hi,

I am new to this forum.

Anyone here from India going through US Consulate - Mumbai for Visa Interview?

There are a number of people. Go back about 10 pages and scroll through the pages and look for your country's flag. Speaking of country flag can you please finish your profile as it will tell us what Embassy your processing through and what visa you are chasing.

Go to the top right of this page select your name>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now when you have a question because the answer that someone will give you will be based on what Embassy. Funny thing is most Embassy's have different process's and different document requirements. AND, for India their are two Embassy's so we don't always know which one you will process with. Welcome to the forum.

Hi @Naes,

Thanks so much.

I had no idea there was a India US Consulate page.

I read somewhere you got your NOA2 - congratulations on that !!

Thanks again.

Once you get your case number (some of the things you can start now collection) you can walk through the packet 3 letter that will be sent to you but here is a copy that you can use now while you are waiting.

Makes sense, thanks for the response. By the way, you may or may not know this, but after getting the case number, is it essential to wait for the case status to say "Ready" before completing the DS-160 form? I noticed it varies from country to country. Our embassy is in Pakistan, Islamabad.

DS-160 can be submitted prior to "ready" from your Embassy. I suggest that the two of you work together on completing the document. You can fill it out for her or she can do it herself and you check it for accuracy as well as she checks her information for accuracy. Take your time. Don't be in a hurry. Once you submit it there will be a confirmation page with a barcode, print off 3 copies for your records. One you will need for sure for the interview.

Something I suggest to people going through this process is to get a "drop box" or "Google Drive" account. They are free and what you do is scan every document that you either receive or you generate yourselves and store a copy in your DB or GD.  This allows for either of you to access the documents needed to complete the process.

Here is an example why I recommend this. Last week my wife and step son needed to renew their passports. So we went to the Philippine Embassy's website and downloaded all the documents. One of the requirements is that you need to Report your Marriage (ROM is country specific) to the statistical office in the Philippines. My recollection was we did this about 4 years ago just after we were married.  My wife tells me we didn't do it. Then my memory starts to doubt that it was ever done. Ahahh I said. I got on the computer and went to my GD account and found the folder with all the documents that I saved (Yes Martha I still have a copy of my 129-f there. I make sub-folders for each process so I can get to it easily" and low and behold there is a folder with my wifes name and ROM after it). I open the folder and then I see the PDF document and I open it and there is a copy of the ROM with all the endorsements. We take it with us and sure enough they ask for it and my wife was able to produce it without any hesitation.

I really do not know what is happening with NVC and today I have 3 weeks of my approval and I still do not get my case number

And you won't know. There is no ryme or reason to how THEIR system works.  Since it is their system we must be patient and wait for our case number. I suggest call each day after 6 PM DST as everything for the day has been processed and will have been updated on their computer files. Then if you have a need call the next day after 6 PM DST and so on and so forth till you are satisfied. ;)

Yup and from the Indian Consulate page you sent you there are 2 more people in all applying from India. I wil also google. Thanks :-)

Here is a way to find others with similar time lines from India. Select your "image" and then on the left hand column select the box that says " show similar time lines" and you will be given a populated list of names of others with similar time lines and from India. Also, there is something else on that page that may be an interest to you; toward the bottom of the page there are some statistical information that can tell you some interesting things about your journey.

Was looking through timelines today and has anyone else noticed that some countries have all around faster timelines than others ?

Some countries are a little faster because of the possibility for fraud. So if you country is know for more cases of fraud the cases there are scrutinized a little tighter then others.
