Good luck! Is there anything we should be getting ready so there is no more delay?

As you're waiting for the NVC #, you can start working on the DS-160 Form, your Police Certificate, the Petitioner can start looking at the Form I-134 ( Affidavit of Support) with its Supporting Documents and arranging Proof of Relationship for the Interview.

Oh Wow!!! I just checked your Immigration Info. and you're for CR-1 (Spousal Visa).

Ouuch! Here is for K-1 (Fiance/é Visa). You've got to check up the CR-1 Forum.

A Little Hint: Most of the Spousal Visa's Steps takes place at the NVC Stage.

Good luck!💖

So in bullet point form (correct me if I'm wrong):

Beneficiary

-Start working on the online application DS-160 but don't submit it yet

-Get Police Certificate

Petitioner

-Gather form I-134 info

-Arrange Proof of Relationship info for interview

Then once you get the NVC # submit the DS-160 and then call the embassy?

You're Right.

The Beneficiary can prepare the Proof of Relationship. I'm the Beneficiary and I'm the one preparing it.

Hey everyone! Quick question if anyone can help.... My fiancee and I received our NOA2 on April 19th and unfortunately we just realized that the consulate (Chennai)  that we put on our I-129F paperwork no longer processes these visas. We are now reading that the only embassy is Mumbai. My question is will they automatically send it to the Mumbai Embassy? Should I call the NVC right away? Or should I wait until after the two weeks when I call the NVC to receive my case number and ask for the change then?

Thanks and much love to everyone going through this process

Here are the instructions for Columbia

  1. Once USCIS has approved the petition, it could take 6 to 8 weeks, before the case arrives  to the Embassy in Bogota, Colombia.
  2. When the case is received at the Embassy, we will send the beneficiary a packet of instructions that provides further information, including how to book an appointment and what documents the beneficiary will need to present at the interview.
  3. Visa applicants/beneficiaries must wait to receive the packet of instructions before scheduling an appointment. The Embassy is not able to process your case before that.

They will direct your case to the appropriate Embassy for processing. You can double check once you receive your NVC case number. The first three letters of the case number will tell you also what Embassy you will process through.

Here is the P3 information: https://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/1057584/senkx/BMB IV Packet 4 for Ks January 2015 Revision_001.pdf

Also under the tab at the top of this page is "portals" to which you select and then find your country. Here is Mumbi http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=India&cty=Mumbai

To better serve you when answering your question(s) can you complete your VJ Profile. To do so go to the upper right hand corner, select your name and under your name chose "my profile". Next under your picture you choose "Edit my Profile". Under profile settings scroll to the bottom of the page and you see two areas (Profile Information and Immigration Information) that accommodates vital additional information to help others in their reply to your question(s).  Without it this information, the replier may just move on and not share the answer because they have to "work" to get the needed information. [visa type and country/Embassy] The answer is sometimes predicated on that additional information. Their time is valuable.

Each Embassy is different. Go up to the top of this page and select portals. Find your country and many of your questions now and coming up will be answered. Good luck.

There is a good possibility you will receive a RFE and then you can correct the error. I recommend to everyone when you are filling out the documents, please let the other person proof read it for errors before submitting. Get a free on-line cloud account with Google drive and store all your documents there. This way you both have access to the documents and can proof read and make changes. During your journey if something gets lost or misplaced you can refer to your Google drive account. https://www.google.com/drive/
