When I called NVC yesterday I think I may have gotten a guy on his first day of work... he kept pausing and it sounded like someone in the background was prompting him what to say and he randomly put me on hold for a minute. Still got the answer "not received yet, can take up to 6 weeks"

A lot of people on here. Once it shows "ready" on the website you should be able to start scheduling. There's no longer a packet it's just a letter with directions on how to schedule it. If you look on the portal for here and read on the US embassy site you really don't need it for directions and by the time you do have your appointments the letter will have arrived! :)

Where did you read this? I remember reading to not to schedule anything until you beneficiary receives a letter from local US embassy. Can anybody confirm/deny this?

Basically question is - status READY clearly says that case is ready for the interview, but when can you schedule it?

Thank you guys! Yes, it's as Naes has said I got the text notification on the April 2 (8pm) but I didn't see it til the morning on April 3. I expected it was going to be exactly 2 weeks before they received my case and I was right lol I didn't want to jynx myself. I got my case # and invoice # on the phone.

After USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will assign you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives.

The NVC will mail/email you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

As long as you know that the case is at your fiance's embassy you can schedule to my knowledge. I'm pretty sure that's when it says ready but every embassy is different so always check with them beforehand.

Follow your embassy protocols
Every embassy is different.

For some, you cannot schedule ANYTHING until they get in touch with you. For others, once "ready" you do everything yourself
Check your country's forum here on VJ and be sure you know what is happening before you do anything.

My visa case number shows only in immigrant visa type, but K1 is a non-immigrant visa type on https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

Oops?

I don't know how to explain it becuase it is listed as a non-immigrant visa but some of the US departments including the NVC consider it as an immigrant visa. It's fine.

I feel frustrated because I called and they said the haven’t my case yet

Try calling tonight after 6pm EST to see if they received it. Just to confirm, you called the NVC # - (603) 334-0700 ? I know when you call it says that if this is about a non-immigrant visa you're supposed to call another number but NVC considers K1 as an immigrant visa I guess. It should probably be there before the end of the week. I think in terms of receiving they seem to do cases in the order it's sent to them because when I called on Monday (during the day) they asked me for my case # and then she paused and asked for the date. When I told her the date she said they haven't gotten it yet. I called again last night around 8pm EST and the rep I spoke with asked for my case number then he proceeded to ask the verification questions for like DOB, our names, etc and he gave me the case # and invoice #.

Thanks that's what I've always heard as well if it is at the embassy you're good to go. That's what "ready" means.
