I just got the emails this morning as well. We have been date twins up until this point my friend now it’s time for the very final stages. So exciting! I believe my fiancé is going to set his interview up for the first week of June.🙂

I don't know about the interview date yet because I have to wait for the embassy to give me "permission" first to set it up, but it might well be around that date too :)

Hi @Daniel P, what's the time difference between an electronic case and a regular paper case? I assume there is no way to tell whether it's electronic or paper before getting assigned an NVC number....

You learn if it's electronic or not when the NVC receives your case. If you call (dialing 7) and they tell you it's there then it's regular, if they say they can't access it and ask you to dial 5, then it's electronic. Electronic cases used to take longer to be processed at the NVC and be very quick to reach the embassy, but the first part has been taking less time lately so I assume they'll end up up being faster.

Can someone please help'me: I'm trying to pay the DS160 fee, however when i click on New application button, the options show up do not have the immigrant visa type. I'm confused

You don't pay a fee for the DS-160 as it is a non-fee required document for the interview. You follow the directions listed on the website for the US Embassy Switzerland found HERE to make your interview payment.

Oh bummer... Mines still in transit. Once it says ready, do you have to wait for Mtl to give you the green light to send Packet3 to their email? I've read online they will sometimes return it to the sender if they don't ask for it first?

Here is your P3 letter from the Embassy in MTL.

Got our NVC number on May 2, it was in transit May 3, yesterday we scheduled our visa interview in Stockholm for June 7!!  Wooooooohooooooo~~ I am so glad this is almost done!  The electronic case deal was such a blessing, it would have taken a couple weeks to get to Sweden by mail.  Hope everyone's process finishes up speedily and we can all see our loves soon!

Thanks for your answer, maybe my wording is not correct.

But yeah i did follow the instruction to log into the page where it is for scheduling interview (which i don't for Switzerland) and pay the visa fee. I just somehow could not find any options for the K visa (since there is no immigrant visa option to choose), that's why i'm confused

Hello did you request them to send you an email with the case number? Or do they automatically send it to you once your case number is assigned? Thanks

Both 😅 I emailed them asking for my fiance's case number thru here: https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

But i only received a reply from that when the case went to 'in transit'. (Idk, it may vary from person to person) And then a few minutes later, NVC sent me the 'official' email with letter attached. They automatically email you the letter once your case goes to 'in transit' 😊

Thank you for this!

We received our NOA2 on 4/30 but said it was approved on 4/27 so hoping within the next week we will here from NVC for our case number or at least that they’ve received our case! 🤞🏻 My fiancé is in the UK.

This can be confusing. If K-1 is not an option under non-immigrant then try immigrant. For a K-1 it's confusing at best but either or will work but try them both.

does NVC receive cases continually all day or only up to a certain point? I don’t want to call multiple times if I know there’s no chance of it changing

They wouldn't have sent your package to your Embassy using common mail. They use a courier service especially selected by USCIS for transit.  In most cases it's DHL. This new electronic system is going to save some time as before it was both electronic and paper. Anyways just though I throw that out there.

There is a big chance of it changing during the day. the best time to call is after 6pm est. I used to call 10am est then 7 pm est.

They receive it from different companies not just post office so for fedex and ups they said they can’t give an exact time. (And apparently all are being used regularly)

Here is what I recommend to cut down on stress. I would call first thing every morning of course not weekends to inquire as to your current status with a case number assigned.  If it is not yet available, wait till the next morning and call again.
