What's the best number for NVC for us to call when we're trying to inquire about our case numbers? I'm not starting just yet I just got my approval Friday but I'd like to write it down.

 NVC (603)-334-0700

I was wondering, what's the rush to get the NVC#? The DS-160 specifically asks for the WAC# and, at least in my case, I won't be able to get an appointment for the embassy until they authorize me to do so (once they get my case from the NVC and I send them all the required paperwork). Maybe it works differently with other embassies?

Well if you have your NVC#, you can track your case on CEAC website.
For some embassies (mine), they barely talk to you . You do everything on your own.
So if you can track your case to when it says "Ready" then you can proceed and schedule your interview.

Waiting for NVC to send you the e-mail telling you that your case is at the embassy is heavily delayed. I got mine 2 days before my interview, and by then, the only available interviews would have been June!

So in short, yes. It's embassy specific
If they do everything for you, it's probably a waste of energy to know. but if you gotta do everything yourself, the SOONER you know, the better off you are.

Thank you so much. Is there a specific department I ask for or just tell them my WAC number?

Thanks @Naes I can always count on you and is there an app we can track our case or do we have to go to an actual website? I saw someone put check through the "CEAC" website?

I don’t think there’s an app for that.

I didn't think so either...I'm assuming once it received by NVC our USCIS app is pointless? I just wanted to kinda keep tabs after we get our case number and it shows "ready" because from what I hear the London embassy will allow you to schedule everything without already getting the letter.

Haha my embassy won't do much for me either . I know the NVC# is necessary to check the case status, my point was that I didn't really understand the need to know it so in advance since by the time you need it to schedule the appointment at the embassy (once it says "ready") we SHOULD already have the letter or email from NVC. I just didn't know it took so long for them to send it, so yeah, I'll have to get my fiancée start making some calls not long from now :)

Well, I just made my first call to NVC...spoke to a young man named Gilbert.  I don't think Gilbert had a good day...he advised that it could take NVC up to 8 weeks to receive my paperwork and then another 6 weeks to generate a file number.  I thanked him and thought to myself that I hope someone else answers tomorrow because I don't think Gilbert and I are ever going to be close.  :) I did find it interesting that while Gilbert was checking my case, he noted that the last entry was when they received my case back in October.  Do you think I should have given him the new website address so he could check there....lol

I LOVE how you put that lol. Maybe Gilbert will have a better day tomorrow. I really hope it doesn't take 14 weeks to get our case number lol...geeez.
