There’s this Question on DS-160 saying “Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?”

My fiancée asked me to apply for a Tourist Visa last November 2016 to meet his family in the U.S. unfortunately, my application has been denied. Should I answer “Yes” and explain that our plan is to meet his parents?

I would think you would put yes since they denied you the tourist buuuutt my lovely friend @naes would be best to ask :)

You were refused a U.S. Visa so I'd put yes and then explain the situation. I don't think it'll be a big deal ;)

Girl you’re right, we both been boiled hard enough in this mess.. trust in yourself 🤣🤣

but yes if there was a refusal of tourist visa, you should say yes and explain the situation. Don’t worry most tourist visa denials are due to not having enough ties and I don’t think this has any affect on k1 no need to be scared.

I'm sure you will be perfectly fine. Just be honest about it. Remember you're doing things the RIGHT LEGAL way. I feel like there will be no red flags for you with complete honesty and you've made it this far. Relax and breath. We're almost to the finish line!

“My fiancée and I planned to visit his family personally in United States 2 years ago so I applied for a U.S. Tourist visa last November 2016. Unfortunately, my petition has been denied by the consulate.”

Is that okay?

Visa is not a petition.

“My visa application” may be more accurate.

Just say "Unfortunately, it was denied by the consulate" at the end

Yes, just don’t write petition as that’s a whole different thing and could be misunderstood.

Oh by the way, I have check the status of our petition and still says “case was received”. We have received our NOA2 last April 26 dated April 23 on the paper. I’m just wondering why.

There are lots of cases without online update. As long as you have the hard copy don’t worry about it. You can try the new website maybe it’s updated there(but it really doesn’t matter so don’t worry)

It's ok, some cases are never updated in the old system (like mine), sometimes not even in the new one
