This answer really is embassy specific and it depends.
there is no "best answer."

Some embassies you can do the medical even before NOA2 was approved (though that really isn't a good idea since it can expire).
others (like mine) you MUST first schedule an interview and bring confirmation of interview to medical.

So check your country's forum and see what others are doing there.

Thank you! I will check the embassy site - I believe for Belgium you must also have a scheduled interview prior to the medical.

hi guys! is there a "best time" to have the medical examination done? we just received NOA2 and I'm assuming we have to wait for NVC before it can be scheduled, but can that be done basically at any point before the interview?

yes it can be done before the interview just as long as you have the nvc# coz you're gonna nees it to booked for an appointment

In that case, make sure you also inquire how long medical take
Mine takes 2 weeks- no less. Others take like 2 days. So know that information because that will help you know how far in advance u MUST book your interview.

I am the beneficiary... and I have most of the requirements ready  like my passport, police certificates and such things...are there other requirements needed aside from that is written on the page here the Required Documentation part? https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html

Required Documentation

You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

  • Completed Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. You (and any eligible children applying for K-2 visas) must: (1) complete Form DS-160 and (2) print the DS-160 confirmation page to bring to your interview.
  • A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).
  • Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor
  • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)
  • Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)

Yes, that’s the correct one.  Try again later if it’s saying your case is not yet ready to schedule.  It can take a bit for your status to update in the scheduling system.

I'd say those cases still waiting with a NOA2 date in the first half of April should be received by the NVC any time now, just hold on a bit longer. It's a good idea to start calling every day (if you don't already do that :D) so that you can relax a little when they finally get it. After that getting the NVC# should be a matter of days... or that's what I keep telling myself :D

Again I offer this bit of information. If you have been lived in a country for more than 6 months anytime from age 16 then you are required to have a PC BUT only if the country that you want to apply to will produce one for you. Some countries will not, especially if you are not physically located there at the time of your request for a PC. An again, you should refer to the Embassy letter/checklist/P3/or call the Embassy to ascertain what their requirements are if not spelled out in the previous sentence.

Is this 6 months in a single visit or 6 months cumulative (broken into smaller trips over the course of a year/years)? I have emailed the embassy about this and didn't receive a straight answer. Also, by "live in" would that mean taking up residence or just being there as a tourist? I feel like the answer is probably 6 months straight in any capacity (student, work, resident, etc). Thoughts? For us Canadians this is a little bit of a grey zone as some ppl cross the border to vacation for extended periods of time (4 winter months and a 1 month summer with a couple random business trips in there). What do you think?

Those are so close it doesn't matter
Keep in mind NVC is not going to magically have your case at 2 weeks.
If you really want to call that quickly, you can use the 4/27 date. But Using the 5/2 date is more smart- giving NVC a little bit more time to have your case ready and might even give you case number at the same time!

Thank you @Naes
