Is receipt form I-797 (for I-130) absolutely critical?

Hey guys,

 

   I've recently submitted a form I-130 for my wife. Unfortunately, we never received receipt form I-797 in the mail. However I did get the email confirmation so I know my case ID and the website states my case has been received and a receipt was mailed.

 

My question is how important is it that I call USCIS to get that receipt resent? Considering I already have the case ID from the email confirmation, is the paper receipt important at all?

 

I guess I'm wondering if Form I-797 could have other content besides just the case ID that I would be missing.

Its important in my opinion. After all, you need a legal paper from USCIS, not just an email. 

Another thing is to make sure USCIS has your correct address on the system.

It is an official document and can be a PROOF of something from USCIS. 

 

I am not sure the email carry the same weight.
