Will Canadian tax transcripts be ok? My husband has the dual citizenship and he will only be moving to the states at the end of this year

He has not been filing US tax returns?

YMMV

No. He has been living in Canada for the last 7 years

Doesn't matter.  One of the benefits of being a US citizen is an obligation to file US tax returns regardless of where you live/work

YMMV

He will have to file US taxes.  All US citizens and Green Card holders must report world-wide income.

Would it be best to use his dad as a sponsor then? His dad lives in Florida

The purpose of the Affidavit is to show you have sufficient current earnings.  A US tax transcript shows a historical persepective and assuming you are still at the same employer your income will likely be at least the same amount.  Since you both are moving, I assume one or both of you are  changing employers?  If so, a historical look at your income is less meaningful as the present or the future

YMMV

You have several issues.  You need to provide US tax returns or US tax transcripts.  If they are unavailable then you need to explain why you did not file returns.  Living in a foreign country is not a valid reason.  You have potentially seven years of unfilled returns that you will need to repair.

If you don't have jobs secured before you need to submit the I-864 then you will need a joint sponsor

YMMV

The several issues come in two categories.

1. Information from tax returns for 2015 - 2017 tax years is required for the Affidavit of Support regarding immigrating to the US.  This affidavit MUST be provided by the petitioner, whether they qualify as sponsor or not.

2.  Additional tax returns (likely no tax due for any year) are going to be needed to satisfy the IRS.  This has NOTHING to do with US Immigration.

Not necessarily. If they meet the minimum assets requirement proof of current/future income streams are not needed.

We need tax transcripts from my husband even if we use his dad as the joint sponsor?
